Some of the most meaningful parts of a heritage restoration are the details that find their way home.

At Silver Birches, we’ve carefully restored original Art Deco tiles, rebuilt period cornices to match the existing details, and refurbished the home’s original steel windows. One of our favourite stories is the return of the original door handles, which had been removed by a previous owner and were later tracked down by our client at a local antique store. After being restored, they’ve now been reinstated throughout the house.

It’s these small details that help preserve the character and history of a place.

This Art Deco home had fallen into significant disrepair before restoration works began. From repairing structural damage and making the building watertight, to restoring original windows, tiles and period details, every decision has been guided by respect for the home’s history.

Heritage projects are rarely straightforward, but preserving what makes a building special is always worth the effort.
