Something about today stirred a quiet kind of longing—not for home, but for St. Simons Island, where I spent a restless year at 18. I was unsure of the future, craving peace, yet drawn to the edges of things. The marshes, the tide, the oaks—it’s a place I still visit in my mind when I need to slow down.

So today, I made a mixed berry cobbler from scratch. Not for any big reason—just a small comfort. There’s something simple and steady in mixing the berries and letting it all bake into something warm. It’s not home, but it reminded me of a time when I needed a place to just be. And that felt like enough.

I ate it slowly, a copy of The Bell Jar open beside me. Not the lightest read, but fitting for a day like this.
