Sharing the tastes, tales and traditions of Italy.

A room still carrying stories, just in a different kind of way.

On the walls at Post, traces of the old General Post Office remain — stamps, markings & fragments from a time when this room helped carry the city’s messages from one hand to the next.

Now, those stories sit quietly beside another kind of tradition. The Italian kind, passed down through families, held in the way pasta is made, wine is poured, bread is torn & a table is gathered.

Once built for exchange, now made for gathering — Post continues the story through the rituals that bring people together.

Pappardelle, osso buco ragù. This is pasta with an appetite.

Wide ribbons of pappardelle, a slow osso buco ragù, and the kind of sauce that demands attention on the plate — it gathers, clings, stains, warms, and asks for bread somewhere close by.

It is the generous side of Italy. The side that cooks with time, serves with heart & never lets the table leave hungry.

History lives in the walls. Hospitality now fills the room.

Before State buildings held long lunches, morning coffees & final nightcaps, it was part of Perth’s daily rhythm — the former franking room of the city’s General Post Office, where letters moved, stamps marked their journey, and the building quietly carried the business of the day.

Now, within the heritage walls of Postal Hall, Post continues that sense of gathering in a different form. Tables set, glasses poured, pasta served, and stories passed from one guest to the next.

A place shaped by history, still made for the everyday rituals that bring people together.

Before it found its way to our table, tagliatelle had already lived many lives. Cut into ribbons across floured benches, gathered by hand, passed through family kitchens where technique was learned by watching closely & appetite was never treated as something small.

There is a quiet romance in a pasta shaped by repetition. Hands that know when the dough is ready. A knife drawn through soft sheets. A table waiting nearby. Our Mushroom Tagliatelle carries its story forward with earthy richness, tender ribbons & the kind of warmth that feels familiar before the first bite.

A dish that does not need to announce itself. It simply arrives, settles into the table & lets tradition do what it has always done best.

From the cellar: Sangiovese.

There are some bottles that seem to know exactly where they belong.

With its Italian roots, bright lift & savoury depth, Sangiovese finds its place beside our rigatoni — guanciale, chilli & tomato sugo woven through every fold of pasta.

A glass that cuts through the richness, follows the warmth of the sugo, and settles into the table like it was always meant to be there.

Ask our team for a pour from the cellar.

Every Italian meal has a way of beginning before it truly begins.

Before the pasta, before the mains, before someone orders another glass, there is antipasti — a few plates for the table, something to pass, something to tear, something to reach for while the conversation finds its place.

Start with antipasti. Let dinner follow.

Meet Lucas Fernandes, Director of Culinary.

For Chef Lucas, cooking has always begun with family — with parents, grandparents, and the kind of kitchen where you learn by watching, tasting & using what is at its best.

That same instinct carries through to Post. Italian tradition, classic technique, and Western Australian produce all meet at the table, guided by a simple philosophy: stay true to the ingredients.

This season, that means citrus, winter greens, and the kind of local produce that makes the menu feel grounded in place. Working closely with the culinary team at Post, Lucas keeps the food generous, thoughtful & deeply connected to the way people gather here — whether it’s a business lunch, a city stop-in, or a long table of familiar faces.

A Negroni does not rush.

It arrives the way the best Italian rituals do — measured, bitter, bright, and entirely certain of itself. A little gin, a little vermouth, a little Campari, stirred into something that feels like the beginning of a very good evening.

A drink made for the hour when the day begins to soften, the first plates are still to come, and the table starts settling into its own rhythm.

Salute.

Calcio Italiano at Post.

When Italian football arrives in Perth, the spirit of the game finds its way to the table.

From 3–16 August, Post will serve a special menu inspired by the Italian regions represented by AC Milan, Inter, Juventus & Palermo FC — each dish carrying a little of its team’s character, from saffron risotto with bone marrow crumb to agnolotti del plin, kingfish crudo & slow-cooked lamb shoulder.

Choose your side, gather the table & let the rivalry begin.
Available from 12pm onwards. Book via the link in bio.
