My advice to them was simple: get the electrical outlets and wiring installed during construction, even before you've picked the exact light fittings. Why? Because it means later on, you can walk into somewhere like Beacon Lighting and choose whatever lights actually suit your home, without needing any extra electrical work or rewiring.

They followed that advice, and now picking the perfect light fittings is the easy part.

Welcome to lockup stage, one of the most important milestones in your build 🔐

This is when doors and windows go in and the house officially becomes secure. This particular home is double brick, and you can already see the plaster has been painted. Where the plaster was previously rough, it's now smooth, this is exactly why plastering takes longer than gyprock.

The carpentry is coming together too. This walk-in pantry will soon be full cabinetry, electrics are already in, gas is connected, and the plumbing for the island bench is set.

Here's the part that actually matters at this stage. Now that the house is secure, doors start going in, garage door, front door, and the rest of the fittings begin shortly after. Not everything is finished yet, but this is the turning point where the build starts feeling like a real house.
