Finally — some sense in this debate.
Those of us working in energy have known for years that Australia’s higher electricity costs are driven by structural and market issues: under-investment in networks, ageing thermal assets, global gas dynamics, and regulatory settings that haven’t kept pace with change.

It’s frustrating to see bad-faith actors continue to misrepresent this as the “cost of the green transition”. It isn’t. And repeating that line only delays the real work needed to fix affordability for households and industry.

Denise has been a constant in the Swan Hills office. Holding down the fort, so Jess Shaw, and then I, could serve our community.

Farewell and Thank You, Swan Hills!!

Today marks the final day of my term as the Member for Swan Hills. As I reflect on the past years, I am filled with immense gratitude—for the friendships made, the lessons learned and the incredible people I’ve had the privilege to serve.

To my staff: your dedication, hard work, and unwavering support have been the backbone of everything we’ve achieved. I could not have done this without you.

To my friends and family: your patience, encouragement, and love have meant the world to me. This journey has been demanding, and your support has carried me through every challenge.

Most importantly, to the people of Swan Hills: thank you. Thank you for trusting me to represent you, for sharing your stories, for challenging me to be better, and for allowing me to stand up for our community. It has been an honour to serve this incredible community - my home for two decades.

Though my time in this role is ending, my commitment to making a difference remains. I look forward to new opportunities to continue contributing, and I hope our paths cross again soon.

New Roles in March!

From March 9, I’ll be taking on two exciting new roles, both focused on positioning Western Australia at the forefront of the energy transition.

I’m thrilled to be joining The Superpower Institute (TSI) as WA Program Director, working alongside some of Australia’s leading policy and economic thinkers to help shape the regulatory, market, and policy settings needed for Australia to thrive in the clean energy era.

This is an incredibly exciting opportunity, at such an important time. Western Australia can play a central role in the nation’s clean energy future and our global competitiveness. My goal in leaving Parliament was to find a role where I could dedicate myself to pursuing these ends. TSI’s ambition and work is a great fit.

At the same time, I’m excited to be launching Tactica Advisory with Peter Tinley AM and Simon Avenell. Together, we’re building a strategic advisory firm focused on helping businesses—both emerging green industries and established companies—navigate the challenges of decarbonization, seize new commercial opportunities, and secure our long-term energy future.

Western Australia has a huge role to play in global efforts to address climate change and strengthen our economic future. Through both TSI and Tactica, we’re committed to working alongside governments and industry to help realize this potential.

It’s been such a privilege to work as the Member for Swan Hills - I’m now looking forward rejoining the energy sector full time and making a meaningful contribution towards action on climate change, WA’s energy transition and our economic future!!

IMPORTANT: FURTHER UPDATE ON BULLSBROOK WATER

Thanks to all those Bullsbrook Community members who have continued to contact my office regarding:

- allegations of standpipe misuse and
- use of water by property developers.

Water corporation has provided further advice as follows:

“There have been no special arrangements made for developers around water supplies and they have not been given priority to take water from the main.

“Developers or their construction companies are encouraged to use non-potable water for construction activity and only when this is not available are they given access to scheme water.

“Construction companies using mobile standpipes in the Bullsbrook area have been requested to take from the Ellenbrook supplied area.

“If people have concerns that standpipes are being misused, they can contact the Water Corporation’s standpipe patrol team on [email protected] and if water carters are seeking information on other nearby standpipes they can contact Water Corporation on 13 13 75.”

Please be assured that Water Corp are investigating misuse allegations. I strongly encourage people with information to report it directly to the appropriate authorities.
