When I first created Off-Road Kidz, I wanted to build more than just adventure stories for children. I wanted to create books that help kids feel brave, included, valued, and understood.

As parents and grandparents, we know that childhood can sometimes feel like a big and confusing road. Confidence, kindness, friendship, and resilience are things our little ones learn day by day — and stories can play such a powerful role in that journey.

Fueled by Friendship was written with that in mind. It’s a story about finding the people who stand beside you, support you, and remind you that you never have to face challenges alone.

💛 A Note from the Author – Tina de Bruyn

Writing Fuelled by Friendship has been one of the most meaningful journeys for me. While the Off-Road Kidz are always about adventure, speed, and fun… this story goes a little deeper.

I wanted to create something that speaks to children who may feel unsure of themselves—those moments where they feel different, overlooked, or even bullied. Because the truth is, so many of us have been there.

In this book, one of the Kidz discovers that something they once saw as a weakness… is actually their greatest strength. That idea is very close to my heart. I believe that what makes each child unique is exactly what makes them powerful.

Fuelled by Friendship is a reminder that:
✨ You are stronger than you think
✨ You don’t have to face challenges alone
✨ The right friends can change everything

More than anything, I hope this story helps children feel seen, supported, and confident in who they are.

I want to acknowledge the following people. Nifty Ness Designs for bringing our characters to life. Vanessa took our actual vehicles and gave them a life, capturing the personalities of their name sakes. As each adventure develops in different corners of our world she’s also managed to capture the wildlife found in those areas making our books extra special.

Sarah Van Heerden for her editing, late night calls, guidance and educating us on dyslexic style fonts which Vanessa then designed one specifically for off road kidz.
