YOUR life, YOUR potential, YOUR choice…We Know You By Name.

Today WA Blue Sky celebrates the incredible nurses we have the privilege of working alongside across the disability sector.

From emergency departments, hospitals and community medical centres, to homes, supported accommodation and community settings, thank you for the care, compassion and professionalism you bring every single day.

A special acknowledgement to the extraordinary nurses working within palliative care teams. The calm, guidance, honesty and reassurance you provide during some of life’s most difficult and complex moments is invaluable. You support not only our customers, but also their families and our teams, with immense compassion and dignity.

You are advocates, problem solvers, clinicians and compassionate humans who make people feel safe, heard and respected. Your work does not go unnoticed and we are incredibly grateful for all that you do.

Happy International Nurses Day to all the amazing nurses we work with and to nurses everywhere. 💙

🌱 Growing Independence: My Story
Since moving into my own home with WA Blue Sky I’ve been loving my independence and doing more of the things I enjoy.

Recently, with support from my team, I visited Midland Library and found some great books to help me start my own veggie patch 🥬🥕🫛 I’m really excited to grow my own vegetables and use them in my cooking!

What I really value is the way the Disability Support Workers support and encourage me to try new things and keep learning, while staying connected to my community. They take the time to understand what’s important to me, support me at my pace, and help build my confidence in everyday activities.

Since moving into my home, a Specialist Disability Accommodation home I was proud to help open alongside Minister Don Punch, I’ve been able to grow my independence and try new things.

We also have some rooms and a villa available in Midland at the moment, so if you’re looking for a great place to live with supportive staff and a friendly environment, come and visit us. We’d love to welcome you!

Watch this space when I get the garden up and running!

Celebrating our people at the NDS Disability Support Awards

On Saturday night, our team attended the National Disability Services Disability Support Awards at Crown Perth. It was a fantastic evening celebrating the amazing work happening across the disability sector and community.

We are so proud of Johnson, one of our valued Disability Support Workers who was nominated for the Excellence in Disability Support Work Award.

Johnson has supported one of our WA Blue Sky customers David, for over 15 years.
During this time, David has grown in confidence and independence. It has been a wonderful journey to see, and together they make a great team!

A big congratulations to all nominees and winners, you are making a real difference in people’s lives every day.

The night was full of energy, with performances from the sensational Iconyx and DAPAK - Dance Ability Performing Arts Kelete Inc. live music, and dancing throughout the evening, finishing with another awesome set getting the dance floor pumping from DJ Incredable. 🎶

What a great day at the Healthcare Industry Expo at North Metro TAFE WA (Mt Lawley campus)!

A huge thank you to North Metropolitan TAFE for having us today and for creating such a valuable space to connect with emerging disability support workers who are curious, motivated and keen to gain real-life experience in our sector.

Events like today are so important for meeting people who are not just looking for a job, but who are keen to learn, grow and build meaningful careers in disability.

WA Blue Sky are proud to welcome and encourage the next generation of disability support workers and to play a small part in shaping a strong, values-led workforce for the future.

Thanks again North Metro TAFE - we loved being there! 🙌

Today, on Anzac Day, we pause to remember and honour those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their country.

We acknowledge the courage, commitment, and resilience of all who have served, past and present, and the families and communities who stand beside them.

At WA Blue Sky , our values of Respect, Togetherness, Honesty, and Excellence reflect many of the qualities we recognise today. Respect in accepting and valuing every individual, Togetherness in supporting one another, Honesty in acting with integrity and accountability, and Excellence in striving to serve others to the highest standard.

While our work is different, these principles guide how we show up each day, for our colleagues, our community, and those we support.

This day is not about glorifying conflict, but about recognising its cost, and the enduring values of service, mateship, and sacrifice.

Lest we forget.

WA Blue Sky Celebrates Harmony Week: Everyone Belongs

At WA Blue Sky, we were proud to celebrate Harmony Week, a time to recognise, respect, and celebrate the rich cultural diversity that makes our organisation and community 33 years strong.

Harmony Week was an important reminder to us all, of the value of inclusion and belonging, ....at WA Blue Sky, these principles guide us every day. Our values of Togetherness and Respect shape how we work, how we support and engage our customers, families, and employees, and how we create and maintain welcoming environments for everyone.

Held from 16 to 22 March, Harmony Week celebrates the contributions of people from all cultural backgrounds across Australia. This year’s theme, “Everyone Belongs,” strongly reflects WA Blue Sky’s commitment to building inclusive, supportive communities where people feel valued, respected, and connected.

“We know that when people feel seen, respected, and included, stronger communities are built, and that belief sits at the heart of everything we do. Harmony Week is a time to recognise and celebrate our differences, listen to one another, and continue creating a culture where every person feels included and truly belongs,” WA Blue Sky CEO, Dena Zarif shared.

Last week our corporate support team shared food which reflected their cultural heritage over a delicious lunch together. Our Home & Community team also hosted activities across our services to further celebrate cultural diversity and acknowledge the diverse backgrounds of our workforce, customers, and supporters.

Beyond Harmony Week at WA Blue Sky, we celebrate inclusivity ...where everyone belongs, each and every day.
