This week is Aussie Backyard Bird Count

The is a great way to connect with the birds in your backyard no matter where your backyard happens to be — a suburban backyard, a local park, a patch of forest, down by the beach, or the main street of town.

You can count as many times as you like over the week; we just ask that each count is completed over a 20-minute period. The data collected assists BirdLife Australia in understanding more about the birds that live where people live.

This Wednesday is National Superhero Day! April 28th.

Traditionally this was a day the employees of Marvel studios initiated to pay homage to their favourite superhero’s.

Children love to dress up so why not have a dress up day. Dress as their favourite superhero
Outcome: 1. Children have a Strong sense of Identity.

What about making it a day to talk about our everyday hero’s?
Our Police Force, Fire Brigades, and Medical Staff, Carers of all kinds and special forces like the army, navy or airforce. You could talk about how their jobs help keep us safe and healthy.
Give Back:
You could make thank you cards and send them to your local police, fire and doctors surgery or hospital, or aged care facility
Outcome: 2
Children are connected with and contribute to their world

Get ready for National wear your PJ’s to work day next Friday.

It doesn’t have to be Friday, pick a day next week and ask everyone to wear their pjs to care that day.

Bring their favourite teddy and have a teddy bears picnic with story time for their teddy’s. (Where the wild things are pjs are from
Peter Alexander - and you could also read the book)

Why not choose a local charity and ask families to make a gold coin donation or bring a can from the cupboard and donate these to a local charity.

Outcome 2: Children are connected with and contribute to their world.
Outcome 2.1: Children develop a sense of belonging to groups and communities and an understanding of the reciprocal rights and responsibilities necessary for active community participation.

This WEDNESDAY 7th April is World Health Day!

Why not get the children involved in a little self care with Cosmic Yoga 🧘‍♀️ 🧘‍♂️ 🧘

The “Betsy the Banana” episode would be fitting in talking also about healthy food 🍌
