Meerilinga Woodvale are All In!

Reconciliation Week (27 May - 3 June) asks us to all be part of the journey alongside Australia's First Nations people. All In is not about guilt or shame, but about the reciprocal responsibility of being Australian.

Completing the Heart Garden activity with their Educators, families and carers, has given space for our children to talk about reconciliation and learn what difference they can make, even from a young age.

Thank you to all who contributed to the garden and who gave space and time to consider how they can be part of the story of reconciliation.

"Reconciliation is not a spectator sport"

National Reconciliation Week reminds us that reconciliation is a shared endeavour that requires us all to take action, no matter how young or old we are.

Our children have been doing activities all week to help them consider the part they can play in the story, including sharing First Nation stories and creating 'Heart Gardens'. Check out our community pages for some of the action!

The theme for this year’s National Sorry Day is "From Sorry to Action". The call is to move from words to action now, not in another decade.

Acknowledging past harm is important, but acting to address it is critical. Sorry signals compassion, action delivers justice.

We encourage you to mark National Sorry Day, and to find ways to ensure this day is part of an ongoing commitment to truth-telling and healing.

What a great way to cap off National Volunteers Week!

Our Kingsley Service had a group of visitors from Bankwest to help revitalise the community garden, including clearing and replacing overgrown plants, freshening up the front fence’s paintwork, installing a wooden fence and even constructing a pirate ship!

Thank you to everyone who leant a hand throughout the day, including our staff (including senior members!), Meerilinga legend Pat and Volunteering WA, who helped to organise the day. Also deserving of thanks are Westcoast Siteworks who helped to make the site ready before our volunteers started their work.

See the garden for yourself at Kingsley now 😊

Carers of vulnerable children need a safe and supportive space to connect.

That's why we've launched a fortnightly group to help relieve the stress, to celebrate successes and to encourage those who truly understand the unique challenges of fostering or kinship care.

Next meet up tomorrow! Join us each fortnight:https://events.humanitix.com/carer-support

Please welcome Nicole Hunt to the Meerilinga team!

Nicole joins us in the role of Executive Manager, Services, with over 30 years of experience across the sector, including as an Educator, a Family Support Worker and Centre Director. She is passionate about creating and leading programs that foster positive change in the lives of children, with a particular focus on change management initiatives that address the needs of those facing adversity.

Her approach to early childhood education matches that of the Meerilinga philosophy, where we focus on creating welcoming environments for children, families and community. By creating Centres that foster a sense of belonging, we believe that we’re promoting positive childhoods across the community.

Make sure to say hi if you see Nicole at any of our Centres!
