Happy Friday πŸŽ‰. We've all made it through another week and the weekend beacons.

What are your plans for the weekend?

18/05/2026

Hang on, it's Monday, how did that happen?

How about a quick around the grounds for what you and your pups got up to over the weekend. Post your photos below.

Happy Friday to you all.

Friday's can be tough, that 8 hour grind to get to the weekend and whatever that holds. It might be a show, or a hike, some training, quiet family time or just watching sport.

So in the spirit of passing time, what's the quirkiest thing your Ridgee does?

🐾 Two of our gorgeous WA Ridgey Community, Juno and Ziggy, recently gave sleddog sports a try at the WA Sleddogs Beginners Try-Out in Perth β€” and according to their humans, they absolutely loved every second of it! πŸ›΄πŸŒ²

The event was designed as a fun introduction to harness work, scooter runs, and the world of sleddog activities, and these two Rhodesian Ridgebacks jumped right in with enthusiasm. βš‘πŸ•πŸ•

Juno apparently took to the experience like a natural, staying focused and confident throughout the sessions, while Ziggy kept everyone entertained with his larger-than-life excitement and cheeky personality πŸ˜‚

Their humans said it was amazing watching the dogs build confidence, learn something completely new, and enjoy working as a team in such a supportive environment. By the end of the day, both dogs were happily exhausted β€” always the sign of a successful adventure! πŸ’€β€οΈ

A huge thank you to WA Sleddogs for creating such a welcoming and beginner-friendly event. It sounds like Juno and Ziggy may have discovered a brand-new favourite hobby β€” and their humans are already talking about the next event! 🐾✨

Here’s to more trails, more adventures, and plenty more Ridgeback-powered zoomies ahead! β€οΈπŸ•πŸ•

‼️ UPDATE: Applications CLOSED ‼️

🐾 Meet Rory – Your Loyal Companion Awaits 🐾

Rory is a beautiful 4-year-old purebred Rhodesian Ridgeback who is looking for a loving new home due to a family separation.

This handsome boy is desexed and has grown up alongside a younger doggy sister and a cat, so he’s familiar with other animals. He’s attended social gatherings and does well, though he can be a little shy at first. He likes to assess new situations before jumping in πŸ˜‰

Rory hasn’t lived with children, so he’d be best suited to a home with older kids who can respect his gentle nature. He will thrive in a busy family with lots of love to share πŸ’™

πŸ’› What Rory loves:
🐾 Cuddles and companionship
🐾 Car rides and adventures
🐾 Family outings
🐾 Daily walks or a run
🐾 The beach!
🐾 Simply being by your side πŸ’ž

Rory is a loyal, affectionate dog who thrives on human connection. He’s ready to give his whole heart to someone who can offer him stability, love, and a place to call home.

If you think you could be the perfect match for Rory, please reach out to us with your info. You can PM the page or call Lisa on 0438 661 001 πŸ’Œ

We are saddened to share the passing of Matthew from A1 Pet Meats, a continued supporter of the RRCWA πŸ˜ͺ

Over the years, he was really generous in sponsoring our shows with wonderful treat donations, and many of our members relied on his fabulous fresh pet food. His support of the club and our community meant a lot to us.

We’re grateful for everything he gave to the RR community and will remember him for his ongoing support.

We are thinking of his family and work colleagues πŸ’”

We thought we'd share some training information with the Ridgeback community.

This morning the Travelling Ridgees attended a Snake Avoidance refresher with Animal Ark Snake Avoidance Training for Dogs who also provide Bait Aversion Training, but more on that in a future post.

Not only do Animal Ark provide awesome training they've provided sponsorship for RRCWA shows so they're all round top people πŸ‘

Woody and Marni have completed this training twice before, but refresher training is recommended and as the their name suggests they're travelling dogs so better safe than sorry.

After a quick chat with the Animal Ark team on how the training was going to proceed it was time for Marni to strut her stuff.

The first encounter was with a free ranging Woma python, as you can see while it's a pretty snake Marni wanted nothing to do with it.

We then moved it into the bush and a cleverly disguised and contained Tiger Snake. This one took a moment longer for Marni to get the scent of but once again when she got it she chose to give it space.

2 down 2 to go. A bit further around and a Dugite this time, again contained for everyone's safety. Another wide berth and we're 3 for 3.

And the final encounter with a moving woma and high fives all around for a 4 for 4 run.

Woody had his turn and also passed.

Woody and Marni's parents have witnessed them both actively avoid snakes in the wild so have no doubt the training works.

If you would like to get your pups trained reach out to the team at Animal Ark Snake Avoidance
