Massive congratulations to Dean for winning the overall Caberet & Variety award!!!!! Massive work, you deserve it!

Here comes the big long thank you post so buckle up!

To say that I am totally gobsmacked to receive this award is an absolute understatement. When I was notified last week that I had won the weekly award for Cabaret & Variety show for the second year in a row I was absolutely floored. To then take out the overall award for Cabaret & Variety Show at Fringe 2022 is more than I ever could have dreamed of.

There’s a whole bunch of people to thank many who have been there by my side since I first set foot on stage at Fringe in 2016 with my first show Mad As Hell.

Janelle Koenig you helped me set the wheels in motion for what has become my own brand of drag cabaret with material we wrote together in 2016 that I am still performing to this day. You are an insanely talented lady and a very dear friend, and I will be forever grateful for your love, support and friendship.

My many fabulous friends who have assisted backstage over the years on many different shows – Lauchlan, Leâh and Mikey. Thank you for keeping me together in moments of craziness backstage and all those lightning fast costume changes.

My go to audio guru Bron at B.K.T Audio – thank you for always making me sound amazing and always being cool as a cucumber. Couldn’t have done it without you!

The Court for being my venue for Life’s A Drag for the last two years and Connections Nightclub in previous years. Thank you for letting me use your stages to perform and share my stories.

Fringe World Festival – what can I say you are an amazing team of people who have worked through the toughest of times to make sure the festival happens and give artists a platform to present their work and audiences the opportunity to come see shows and support an incredible program of shows. I am forever humbled to be part of your festival and honoured by this award.

Last but certainly not least – the audience. Every single one of you that has purchased a ticket THANK YOU! There were nights where I’d be sitting in the dressing room before the show absolutely exhausted thinking to myself how the hell am I going to go do this show, but the minute I set foot on that stage you bring me to life. I truly belong on the stage and without you the audience I couldn’t do it.

I’ll leave you with this last little though – I keep thinking how did I win this award against so many other amazing shows and if you have seen the show you know that it’s just me on stage telling my little life stories and sing my favourite songs. I have come to the conclusion that I really am my best when I am being just me. No smoke and mirrors, no crazy tricks, just me on stage being my absolute authentic self and if that I can do that then so can you. Be you, be authentic and success will come.
