Athlete X
Changing peoples perceptions on what it means to be an Athlete. We aim to show you that there is an
Ask any of them if they’re a gym person. Watch them laugh.
Parents. Shift workers. People who drifted and found their way back. Not one of them planned to end up here.
Now it’s the hour they protect.
You were never too unfit or too far gone to belong here. That was always just a story.
🧡
The work you do at 35 shows up at 65.
We don’t bang on about strength training for women because of how you’ll look this summer. We bang on about it because of how you’ll carry your grandkids in twenty years.
Most women grew up thinking fitness meant cardio. Toning. Staying light. Staying lean. Staying small. All good. None of them enough on their own.
Strength training is the missing piece. The one type of training every woman should be doing across her entire life.
Here’s what it does, quietly, while you’re not paying attention…
Builds bone density. Protects your joints. Keeps your metabolism working as you age. Steadies your hormones through perimenopause and beyond. Keeps you independent in your 70s and 80s.
The ability to get off the floor unassisted at 75. To lift your own suitcase at 65. To pick up a grandkid without throwing your back out at 60.
That’s not a vanity goal. That’s a life goal.
Start light. Start scared. Just start.
🧡
Nobody warns you that the goal changes.
For years it was about getting somewhere. A number on the bar. A look in the mirror. A finish line that kept shifting.
Then one day you stop chasing it.
You just want the hour that’s yours before the day takes the rest. A body that holds up for the people who lean on you. A room where you’re not a stranger.
That’s not giving up on yourself. It’s finally knowing what’s worth showing up for.
🧡

Most powerhouses are nobody’s idea of one.
They’re someone’s mum. Someone’s wife. Someone’s daughter. The one keeping the whole thing going.
The 10am is where they stop being all that for an hour.
That’s where Gill comes in. 🧡
The wiser you get, the simpler things get.
🧡
Why Athlete X?
Because someone says your name when you walk in.
Because someone notices when you don’t.
Because the coach knows about your knee. The person next to you knows your kid’s name. The room knows what kind of week you’ve had before you tell them.
Because the room is full of busy parents, tired professionals, and people working their way back to who they used to be. People who get it.
Because we’re not for the six-week thing. We’re for the Tuesdays. The 5am you nearly skipped. The third year of just showing up.
Because life will get hard. Jobs change. Marriages strain. Kids get sick. The world tilts. The gym stays the same.
Most gyms sell access.
We sell the place where you’re known.
🧡
You can plan to train at 5am. Then the kid wakes up sick.
You can plan to train at 6am. Then work runs long.
That’s why we run six classes a day. So when your day moves, your training doesn’t have to.
5am. 6am. 7am. 10am. 4:30pm. 5:30pm.
Pick one. Pick another. Just keep showing up.

Rach said something to us last week that stopped us in our tracks.
“I would be lost without my Athlete X family. You’ve given me so much.”
Nobody says that about a gym. People don’t get emotional about equipment or timetables. They get emotional about belonging.
What Rach is describing isn’t a membership. It’s a home.
Rach is one of the shining lights of our community. A single mum who trains at 5am before her kids wake up. She doesn’t talk about it, she just shows up. Quietly, consistently, beautifully.
That’s the kind of person this place gets to be home for.

When in your life are you going to want to be less strong? Less fit? Less capable?
A question most people never stop to ask.
Go on, pick the year. Next year? At fifty? At seventy? There isn’t one. No version of your life gets better as you get weaker.
Strong was never a phase you finish. It’s the thing that keeps the rest of your life open.
Save this for the morning you don’t feel like it. 🧡
Nothing in here is fancy.
The bars are worn. The music’s too loud. Half the room is still waking up.
Then it fills. People who’d never have crossed paths are spotting each other, laughing betweer sets, knowing names. On a Saturday it hums.
We’re not special. Being here is.
