Huge congratulations to my student Ella for having her original song chosen in the Top 20 submissions of the WAM Under 18s songwriting competition!
Songwriting is something we actively work on during her piano lessons, and itβs been a joy to watch her musical voice grow. This is a wonderful achievement and a powerful step in her creative journey β so proud of her courage and commitment ππΉ

Music matters πΆ
Music learning is a workout for self-regulation, constantly practising when to pause, when to push forward, and how to adjust along the way.
In every lesson, children manage impulses, shift tempo, control emotions, and start again after mistakes. These repeated moments of stopping, recalibrating, and continuing build the regulation skills they need to thrive in the classroom.
Music builds more than musicians. It builds self-regulation.

Singing in the shower also counts!! πΏ
Psychologists believe that children who sing often tend to be more intelligent. If your child is constantly singing, it might be a sign that they are developing strong cognitive skills. Singing helps with language development, memory, and emotional expression, all of which contribute to intellectual growth.
When children sing, they engage their brains in complex processes, which strengthens their memory and helps with learning new words. This constant practice also improves their ability to focus, solve problems, and communicate effectively. So, if your little one is always humming their favorite tune, you might just be raising a future genius.
Encourage their musical exploration, itβs more than just fun, itβs an important part of their development.
