Bittersweet Bake

This week has been one of the hardest I have ever experienced behind the scenes…

14 years of bittersweet and this ongoing added stress is breaking me.

The hardest part is our trade has been picking up and we have so many new LOVELY regulars.

We were finally settling in to East Freo

It’s been a difficult to watch and listen as people are disappointed that we haven’t been getting anywhere near our usual production up.

6 day weeks and countless after hour visits to to the shop not doing baking or creating has slowly been breaking my heart.

It’s been months of juggling being a Mum, running a business and project managing issues beyond my control that have now affected my mental health.

Something had to give and Friday it was me…

It’s been an incredibly hard decision to make but i need to close the shop and take time to have the issues properly address whilst not jeopardising our business and putting unnecessary pressure on staff.

If you have been to bittersweet you know we all LOVE what we do..
all my staff are true industry professionals and just GOOD humans!!

I’m so lucky to have had them around me to pull me through.

Bonnie Kaue Nick (and my Nick!) Sian Chloe Jenny and my littlest one Liam you are truly the best sorts..

The laughs the love the support you all give to everyone you come across is so rare…truly. Thank you.

We are experiencing numerous issues behind the scenes at our new site.
To say the move from Mossies has been hard is an understatement.
The constant set backs are costing us in production and our ability to get products out on time or at all.
Which is soul destroying and mentally hard to manage with everything else going on around us.
All we want is to bake lovely things and be the happiness the world needs right now.
Please be kind as we are doing absolutely the best we can to make it work but this year feels heavier than ever.
It’s no small thing being a small business right now…

Changes to the way we trade….

We will now operate Monday + Tuesday 6-12 as takeaway.

Our coffee window will be open and we will have grab and go food options.

Limited seating outside for a perch and a linger.

Cake orders can still be collected on these days.

Wednesday to Saturday normal bakery/cafe trade.

There has been a BIG change in trade in recent months.. sadly along with others in the area we are shape shifting to make it work.

Everyone is feeling pressure in so many areas of business and life so please be kind.

The reality is trade is so much slower on these days and we want to be all things to everyone but it’s not viable.

Physically or Financially.

Like so many businesses this year has been a very hard one. Small business is so multi faceted and this year felt harder than others.

We very much needed this little break to reset and switch off.
