🖤💛❤️ Learning Through Symbols ❤️💛🖤

Building on the learning and experiences shared throughout National Reconciliation Week, our Kindy children at Tall Tree Early Learning - Mullaloo have been exploring Aboriginal symbols by carefully recreating them in sand.

As they traced and copied the symbols from reference cards, children engaged in meaningful conversations about their meanings and the stories they can represent. These experiences help foster understanding, respect and appreciation for Aboriginal cultures and perspectives.

Working with sand also supports the development of fine motor skills, hand strength and coordination, important foundations for future handwriting and literacy learning.

Through hands-on exploration, children are deepening their cultural understanding while developing valuable skills in a meaningful and engaging way.

🥚 Our Daily Treasure Hunt 🥚

At Tall Tree Early Learning - Banksia Grove, checking the chicken pen for freshly laid eggs is always an exciting part of the day!

As children search for eggs, they develop an understanding of where food comes from while building curiosity, observation skills and a connection to the natural world. These authentic experiences encourage children to ask questions, make discoveries and learn through hands-on exploration.

There's always a sense of excitement when an egg is found, making every visit to the chicken coop a meaningful learning adventure.

💛 Connecting to Country Through Creativity 💛

At Tall Tree Early Learning - Landsdale, our little learners continued exploring the themes of National Reconciliation Week through a meaningful painting experience.

Children were invited to choose their own wooden Australian animal to paint, encouraging independence, decision-making and self-expression. As they selected colours, shared resources and took turns with their peers, they were also developing important social and communication skills.

Through experiences like these, children begin building connections with Australia's unique wildlife and the land we all share, while learning to collaborate, communicate and create together.

🌊 Exploring the Ocean Through Sensory Play 🐠

Our babies at Tall Tree Early Learning – Manning have been diving into ocean-themed learning experiences all week as we celebrated World Ocean Day! 💙

This beautiful sensory tray invited our little learners to explore an underwater world created with blue rice, playdough corals and wooden ocean figurines. Through hands-on sensory play, children were able to touch, discover, imagine and investigate at their own pace.

Experiences like these support sensory development, fine motor skills, curiosity and early understanding of the natural world while encouraging children to learn through play.

Celebrating the Power of Play at Perth Children's Hospital 🌟

Yesterday, as the world marked the UN's International Day of Play, our Chief Executive Officer, Todd Dawson, was honoured to be invited to Perth Children's Hospital to celebrate alongside some of the most respected voices in children's wellbeing and early childhood across Western Australia.

It was a privilege to stand together with the Commissioner for Children and Young People WA and Young People, The Kids Research Institute Australia, the Play Matters Australia Collective, and the Office of Early Childhood Education, organisations united by a shared belief that play is fundamental to every child's right to learn, grow and thrive.

To be welcomed into a room with such passionate advocates, for a cause and a day so close to the heart of what we do every single day, was something we don't take for granted.

At The Atlantis Group and Tall Tree Early Learning, play isn't an add-on. It's how children make sense of their world, building confidence, sparking imagination, forming friendships and developing the skills that shape who they become. With 75% of brain development occurring in the first five years of life, the environments and opportunities we create for our youngest learners matter more than ever.

We also know that energetic, active play is just as vital. Running, climbing, jumping and moving freely builds the core strength, coordination and balance that set children up for healthy, confident lives. Physical play isn't just good fun, it's one of the most important things a growing body and brain can do.

"To be invited to celebrate International Day of Play alongside the Commissioner and these incredible organisations was a genuine honour," said Todd Dawson, Chief Executive Officer of The Atlantis Group. "Every day, our Educators see firsthand how play transforms learning. To gather with others who champion children's right to play with the same conviction reminds us we're part of something far bigger than any one service. Protecting play means protecting childhood, and that's a responsibility we carry with pride."

This year's theme, 'Protect play, protect childhood,' is a powerful reminder that safe spaces, unstructured time and the encouragement to play freely are not luxuries, they are rights every child deserves.

Thank you to everyone who made this day so special. We're proud to stand alongside you in championing play, now and always. 💙

This week, our Tall Tree Early Learning - Mullaloo centre was transformed into a beautiful art gallery as they welcomed families to their Reconciliation Week Art Exhibition.

Throughout Reconciliation Week, children engaged in meaningful experiences that explored Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories, perspectives and connections to Country. The exhibition provided an opportunity for families to view the incredible artworks created by the children and learn about the stories, conversations and learning that inspired each piece.

We are so grateful to all the families who joined us to celebrate the children's creativity and learning journey. A huge thank you also goes to the dedicated team, whose hard work and passion brought the exhibition to life and created such a special evening for the Mullaloo community.

Together, we continue to foster respect, understanding and connection as we walk the path of reconciliation.

🌟 Celebrating International Day of Play 🌟

Today, June 11, marks the UN's International Day of Play, an annual global observance that champions and protects every child's fundamental right to play.

At Atlantis and Tall Tree, we recognise that play is much more than fun. It is how children learn, communicate, build relationships, develop confidence, express creativity and make sense of the world around them. Play is a right, and one that we intentionally embed into every day across our early learning and OSHC services.

Whether children are exploring nature, engaging in imaginative play, creating, building, problem-solving or connecting with friends, play provides meaningful opportunities for learning, discovery and growth.

On International Day of Play, we celebrate the joy of childhood and reaffirm our commitment to creating environments where every child has the freedom, time and opportunity to play, learn and thrive. 💛

Today is Thank a First Responder day!
Some of our OSHC children at Atlantis Education Centre - Ocean Keys learned some new Auslan signs in order to say a very special "Thank You" to all the brave men and women that keep us safe every day.

🎨🍃 Creating with Nature 🍃🎨

At Tall Tree Early Learning - Mullaloo, children have been busy preparing decorations for their upcoming Art Exhibition, using natural materials such as leaves, sticks and other treasures from nature to create unique artworks.

Through this creative process, children are exploring different textures, experimenting with artistic techniques and expressing their ideas in meaningful ways. Using natural resources in art encourages creativity, problem-solving and a deeper connection with the world around them.

We can't wait to see their wonderful creations showcased at the exhibition! 🌿✨
