Thanks to the team at Patrick Terminals for giving us the opportunity to experience the crane height first hand and for the tour of your site!

This year was OccuMED's first time attending Diggers & Dealers in Kalgoorlie. Being the 30th Diggers & Dealers Mining Forum and the COVID state travel restrictions, we weren't sure just what to expect. So it was great to hear that 2,520 attended and this was the second highest attendance in the history of the forum. Being there it did feel like a lot of people.
It's also a testament to the health of the resources industry and reinforces how we feel about this sector which is an important part of our business.
Congratulations to the Diggers & Dealers team and Board, led by Jim Walker. We're already looking forward to 2022's program.

Many West Australian businesses have employees that work in challenging or extreme conditions such as remote or offshore locations, extreme temperatures or heights, or those employed in physically or mentally strenuous work. Therefore a different approach to their work health and wellbeing is needed.
Most companies undertake pre-deployment medicals to ensure their staff are fit for the role. A face-to-face pre-deployment medical provides insight into the potential risks involved with the particular role and the consequences that a negative incident could bring about. At OccuMED we consider the demands of a role, the location, required visas and vaccinations, the overall wellbeing of the employee and the length of assignment. Our process is tailored to each company's needs which reassures the consideration of risk for both the company and the employee.

Vaccinations are now part of all our lives because of COVID. Which means businesses have also undertaken a different approach to their commitment to supporting their workforce with vaccinations.
OccuMED have been supporting businesses with vaccination services for decades because of the national and international footprints of our clients and their workforce. With the onset of COVID, this meant we were very quickly able to introduce the needed support services.
As specialist health professionals we are here to guide our clients on the requirements and the impacts vaccination decisions can have on their teams. If you are unsure about your vaccination decisions, please call us to discuss the options.

As communications technology improves, so too does the telehealth sector. Simply because people everywhere are becoming more comfortable with engaging in healthcare through telecommunications technology, including phone, laptop, desktop and any other web enabled device.
At OccuMED, we're embracing telehealth with most of our clients because it's proven to be such an effective way to support their business across the whole spectrum of our services. Over recent years this has been invaluable in a few circumstances when incidents have occurred and the OccuMED team have been able to virtually present to assist the on site managers. So as the footprint of connectivity grows, we know our services will continue to be effective in supporting all our clients in WA, Australia and across the globe.

Health Surveillance is all about monitoring your workers health. Businesses that are most active in using this service are those dealing with hazardous substances. That's because if a worker is involved in an incident, they could endure irreversible harm. This is not an area that any business operating with these substances, wants to get wrong. At OccuMED we undertake a very thorough approach to health surveillance that includes looking at a worker's work history, we do a physical exam and screening questionnaire and carry out specific tests depending on the health effects of the hazard. If you are not sure of the 16 hazardous substances and if any of them are involved in your business operations, please do get in touch today.

For the first time, OccuMED has joined the Diggers & Dealers forum, as Diggers celebrates it's 30th year and OccuMED open their Kalgoorlie clinic.
Diggers & Dealers is Australia’s leading mining forum, that combines corporate presentations alongside a large exhibition. This forum presents what is recognised as one of the best for the resources sector to meet and network, in Kalgoorlie, the unofficial gold mining capital of Australia. With OccuMED opening a new clinic in Kalgoorlie this July, joining this forum and networking with leaders will assist OccuMED in developing a greater understanding of the industry that we will now be working closely with.
Here's to the many incredible existing clients and future friends that will also be in attendance at the Diggers & Dealers forum.
