π National Police Legacy Day 2026 π
On the 17th of June we paused to honour the WA Police officers who have died in service, and to stand beside the families who carry their memory forward.
We were honoured to gather at Government House Western Australia for a reception hosted by His Excellency the Honourable Chris Dawson AC APM, Governor of Western Australia and former WA Police Commissioner. Surrounded by serving officers and friends of WA Police Legacy, it was an evening of reflection, gratitude and connection.
In his address, the Governor reminded us that those who died while they served will never be forgotten. They are remembered by an organisation that stands beside their families, and by a community that holds them in deep respect.
To everyone who joined us, lit a landmark blue, shared our message or simply took a quiet moment to remember, thank you. Your support is the reason no WA police family faces loss alone.
We have walked alongside these families since 1992, and we will keep doing so for as long as they need us.

Tomorrow, Wednesday 17 June, is National Police Legacy Day, a day to honour and support the families of our WA Police officers who have died whilst serving.
Today in State Parliament, the Minister for Police, Hon Reece Whitby MLA, gave a Brief Ministerial Statement recognising the day and the work of WA Police Legacy in caring for these families across Western Australia.
You can watch his statement in the video below.
The day honours the work of the nationβs eight Police Legacy organisations and the support they provide to police and their families, with every state and territory caring for those who serve and the families left behind.
Tomorrow is a chance to recognise the work our WA Police officers do for our community every day, and to stand with the families who support them.

π National Police Legacy Day 17 June π
Across Australia, eight Police Legacy organisations share one promise: that no police family is ever left behind.
From WA to Queensland, every state and territory cares for the loved ones of officers who have lost their lives or been medically retired in service. Together we support thousands of families through grief, education, counselling, and the quiet milestones along the way.
Next week on 17 June, we stand as one to honour them.

Our Police Legacy families came together at Chuck E. Cheese today and it was a brilliant one.
There was pizza, arcade games, the ball pit, plenty of laughs and a few photos with the big cheese himself. The kids and the big kids had a ball and even made new friends.
Days like this are what the blue family is all about. Connecting with people who understand, building friendships and making memories side by side.
Thank you to everyone who came along today. We loved sharing it with you. π

Last week our WA Police Legacy widows enjoyed a wonderful outing to Cicerelloβs in Fremantle, combining a hands on marine education experience with a delicious fish and chips lunch.
The group got up close with some of the oceanβs most fascinating creatures, holding starfish, meeting a friendly shark and even saying hello to a couple of impressive crayfish. There were plenty of smiles, a few brave hands in the water and lots of laughter shared around the table.
Outings like these are about so much more than a day out. They are about connection, friendship and making sure our legatees know they are valued and never forgotten. Thank you to the team at Cicerellos Fremantle for their warm welcome and their wonderful Marine Education program.
To everyone who came along, thank you for sharing the day with us. Moments like these are what our Police Legacy family is all about. π

π Walk to Remember π
Today, around 60 people came together on the banks of the Swan River to walk in honour of the WA Police Officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our community.
We were grateful to be joined by Western Australia Police Force Chaplain Ev Heard, whose words reminded us all of something important. It is people like you who make Legacy what it is. Showing up, stepping forward and walking together.
A candle was held to represent the light of hope that Legacy has carried for so many families over the years. That image said everything.
Thank you to everyone who joined us today. Your presence means the world to the families we support.
We will remember π
