Rinse & repeat....Machined from K1045 mild steel, these are simple pins and collars. Close tolerances and finish replicated as per samples supplied. Thread is 1/14" x 12UNF. Drilled and tapped 1/8 x 28BSPT to the cross holes for grease. The end result is worth the very long hours put into these.

I've been slack lately, not posting recent jobs, mainly because some are not really that interesting or just plain old repeats, like this one is. K1045 mild steel hinge pins with drilled & tapped holes, to locate and the central one for lubrication.

It's been a while since I machined a points cover. These are a replacement for the standard Harley Davidson shovelhead and evo nose cone. I've done twin cams as well. I've done alot of different ones but not kept records of quantities, only the pics and CNC programs to repeat them as required. These are for a group of guys that build, repair, ride and hunt down the parts they lose along the way. My buffing skills are still as poor as ever, everyone knows I hate polishing. It's to give the new owner something to do. 😁

No, not another repeat. It's a new job! They don't look much but are a vital part in Henderson engines. Machined from #4140 high tensile steel, they are double ended studs with 1/4" x 28UNF male thread sections on each end. The chemical blackening process is purely for corrosion resistance. This batch was 100 off. Both ends machined in a single setup, no turning the job around or adding a 2nd op. Just a little bit of manual code editing and it works well.
The superb cad drawing was supplied by customer. Don't knock it, I still do jobs this way, it takes seconds, not months, and works.

Just a small fill-in rush job. These #4140 high tensile steel guide pins are for locating a press stamping die for sheet steel. They had worn with use and then due to misalignment, 1 had sheared off. Diameter 20.005mm x 115mm long with a 24.4mm x 6mm head. They possibly should be hardened and ground, but the customer needed them overnight, so this will keep them producing until they can be done properly.

Just a quick fill-in job for myself. These large flanged hex nuts with location counter bore machined from #4140 high tensile steel are for holding the blades onto my ride on paddock mower. The standard nuts stripped as the hex was far too shallow. I've never understood why designers and manufacturers cut corners to reduce costs that ultimately cause busted knuckles and the part is damaged. Hexagon flats should always have full engagement in the spanner where possible. These won't fail.

Just another repeat, nice easy Machining white acetal plastic top hat bushes.
One of my very long term customers asked me for a handful of brass swarf shavings a few months back. I thought it was an odd request, but since I had a 44 gallon drum of the stuff at the time, I bagged a handful for him. It was actually for a friend of his that manufactures her own random style of jewellery. Yesterday he sent me this video of her finished product. Small things like this impress me, someone had an idea, took my scrap material, repurposed it into something different that they can actually profit from. I'm unsure if she does other forms of work, as I've never met her. Apparently, she sells this type of work at our local Fremantle markets. I should probably ask for a few more details to promote her work.

Another repeat job. M10 x 1.0p brass retaining screws and long hex nuts done.

A nice easy job to start the day. These are a cast aluminium leap frog top for children's play ground equipment. Machined to fit steel tubing. Another repeat job completed.
