Today, the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) kept the cash rate on hold at 4.35 per cent.

The latest numbers show the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose by 1% in the second quarter of 2024, pushing annual inflation to 3.8%. However, underlying inflation is still dropping.

The RBA aims to bring inflation down to 2-3% by the second half of 2025. Economists are debating whether a cash rate cut might happen as soon as November or if it will be next year.
