Most nail techs call it “just lifting.”

But lifting is often a symptom — not the cause.

Bacterial growth.
Moisture.
Improper assessment.

Covering the problem doesn’t fix it.
It can make it worse.

Professional clarity protects your client — and your reputation.

Are you 100% confident you can recognise nail disease before starting a service?

Many nail techs believe they can — until they miss the early signs.

Green discolouration.
Subtle lifting.
Changes that shouldn’t be covered.

Working blindly is a risk.

Professional digital guides created from 25+ years of real salon experience.

Not every nail problem should be treated in the salon.

Discoloration, lifting, onycholysis, green nail, inflammation –
some conditions look harmless, but working on them can put you and your client at risk.

Many nail techs don’t break the rules on purpose.
They simply were never taught:
• what is allowed
• what must be refused
• and when to refer the client elsewhere

That’s exactly why I created this professional eBook for nail techs.

You’ll learn:
✔ how to recognise nail diseases
✔ what you can safely work on in the salon
✔ what you must NOT touch
✔ how to protect yourself legally and professionally

This is not beginner content.
It’s real salon knowledge, based on years of experience.

Absolutely disgusting – and it should NEVER happen.
If your nail stylist is working without gloves, it’s a huge red flag. This is not just unprofessional – it’s dangerous.

Gloves are cheap, tax-deductible, and basic hygiene. There is no excuse.

Here’s what you are exposed to when your stylist skips gloves:

🔹 Bacteria & Viruses
Even a tiny cut or dry skin can let in infections like staph, hepatitis, or even herpes.

🔹 Fungal Infections
No gloves = higher risk of catching or spreading fungal spores between clients.

🔹 Chemical Reactions
Nail products contain harsh chemicals that can cause irritation or allergies through direct skin contact – especially if the stylist touches your skin with bare hands.

🔹 Cross-contamination
Touching tools, dust, or skin with no protection spreads germs fast.

🔹 Lack of Respect for Your Health
No gloves = no care. You deserve better.

💅 Don’t be afraid to speak up or walk out. Your health and safety come first.

I’m honestly shocked.
That in 2025, we still need to talk about this.

So many nail techs — even big-name educators in Australia — are still posting tutorials without gloves. It’s embarrassing.
Even worse? Beginners follow them and copy their habits.

⚠️ This needs to stop. ⚠️
Working without gloves isn’t just “unprofessional” — it’s dangerous. For you and your client.

Please read, share, and help spread awareness. In the 21st century, this should be a non-negotiable routine.

Why wearing gloves is ESSENTIAL for nail technicians:
🧤 1. Protection from chemical exposure

Nail products contain irritants and allergens like acrylates, formaldehyde, toluene, and HEMA.
Studies show repeated skin contact increases risk of allergic contact dermatitis, especially in nail techs.
Source: British Journal of Dermatology, 2016
🧤 2. Reduced risk of developing occupational allergies

According to the DermNet NZ, prolonged exposure to nail chemicals is a leading cause of hand eczema in beauty professionals.
Gloves act as a barrier and reduce the risk by up to 80% when used correctly.
Source: DermNet NZ, 2022
🧤 3. Cross-contamination prevention

Gloves protect your clients, too.
They reduce the transfer of bacteria, fungi, and viruses (including staph & nail fungus).
Proper use of gloves is a basic hygiene standard in personal services.
Source: WHO Guidelines on Hand Hygiene
🧤 4. Professional image & hygiene

Wearing gloves shows you care about safety, cleanliness, and standards.
Clients notice and respect professionals who follow best practice.
🧤 5. Legal protection

In some regions, not wearing gloves could violate health and safety regulations.
If a client gets an allergic reaction or infection, you are legally exposed.
Gloves help protect your license, your income, and your future.
💬 If you're a nail tech: wear gloves.
💬 If you're an educator: set the example.
💬 If you're a beginner: ask better questions.
