Congratulations to the HPS choir and their Wing Commander, Mr Millar on doing a phenomenal job representing our school at the 2026 One Big Voice.

A massive thank you to Mrs Clohessy and Mrs Wheeler who escorted and led our students throughout, and leading up to the event in Mr Millar's absence.

What a spectacular display of creativity our Book Week Parade was this morning!

A huge thank you to our special guest judges for taking on the near-impossible task of selecting our year-level winners for Most Confident and Creative Costumes. Congratulations to all of our lucky winners, and a huge well done to every student who proudly showcased their costume and brought their favourite books to life!

We also extend our heartfelt thanks to all our families for their incredible support - whether that was creating costumes, helping with the finishing touches, or simply coming along to cheer on the children. Your enthusiasm made the morning even more special.

Finally, thank you to our wonderful teachers for their support and encouragement throughout the parade.

What a fantastic celebration of books, imagination and creativity. We can’t wait to see our little Kindy's shine in their own parade tomorrow!

As we lead up to the Book Week Parade on Wednesday, the donation costume box outside the Deputy Principal’s office is looking pretty healthy. Come and grab some inspiration and costume items before the office staff use them all up!

🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ SPORTS CARNIVAL REMINDERS ❤️💙💚💛

Our Sports Carnival is a wonderful opportunity for students to demonstrate teamwork, resilience, sportsmanship and faction spirit! 🎉🏆

We want everyone to have a fantastic day while ensuring students are well cared for and ready to try their best. Please take note of the following reminders to help make the day a success:

🥪🍎 Healthy Fuel
There is no need for large bags of lollies 🍭, high-sugar energy drinks or excessive treats. Please pack nutritious food and plenty of water 💧 to keep students hydrated and energised throughout the day.

☀️🧴 Sun Safety
Please ensure students arrive with sunscreen already applied and are prepared for a full day in the sun. A hat 👒 and water bottle 💧 are essential.

❤️💙💚💛 Faction Spirit
Students should wear their faction shirt and school uniform bottoms (plain navy shorts, skorts, pants or skirts).
Students are welcome to have hairspray, glitter ✨ and face paint 🎨 applied at home; however, these items should not be brought to school.

📍👩‍🏫 Staying with Factions
Students are expected to remain in their designated faction bays throughout the carnival. Our duty of care remains with the school until 2:40 pm, and students must stay under staff supervision for the duration of the event.

🍽️👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Lunch with Families
Families are welcome to enjoy lunch with their children during the designated lunch break. However, early sign-outs are strongly discouraged, as students are expected to participate in and enjoy the full carnival experience.

🤝🏆 Most importantly, we are a team!
The Sports Carnival is about more than winning. It is about encouraging one another 👏, celebrating effort ⭐ and showing good sportsmanship. Let's support our students, their classmates and their factions as we come together for a fantastic day!

🎉 We look forward to an exciting day of participation, fun and faction pride! ❤️💙💚💛

Kind regards,
Bec Clohessy

Need a last-minute Book Week accessory or a little costume inspiration?

Or perhaps you’re looking for a sustainable way to offload those old dress-ups gathering dust at home?

Ms Holden is collecting pre-loved costumes and accessories to give them a new lease on life within the Hocking Primary School community!

Drop your unwanted dress-ups, costumes and accessories into the collection box outside the Deputy Principal’s office before school or after school before next Wednesday's Book Week Parade. Then, before Book Week rolls around, dive in and see if you can discover a hidden treasure to complete your costume.

Let’s work together to reduce waste, reuse what we already have and breathe new life into pre-loved fancy dress, while also supporting families with the ever-growing cost of living.

One person’s old costume could be another person’s Book Week masterpiece!
