THE MOOD | Crawley Penthouse

Lighting and furniture were considered together to shape how this home feels, not just how it looks.

Soft, layered illumination sits quietly within the architecture, enhancing form, materiality and view without competing for attention. Each piece of furniture was designed with the same intent: low, durable and tailored to support everyday living while preserving openness and flow.

The result is a home that feels calm, refined and deeply livable. Where atmosphere is built through restraint, and every element works in quiet harmony.

A space that slows you down, without asking.

The Toy Farmhouse ensuite is shaped by a gentle palette and tactile finishes, grounded yet quietly refined.

Natural textures, warm tones and thoughtful detailing come together to create a softer rhythm, one that invites pause over routine.

A place to retreat, reset and stay a little longer.

Details that make a home feel effortlessly luxurious.

Often, it’s not a single feature, but a series of considered decisions that shape how a home feels.

From the way spaces connect, to the materials chosen and how light moves throughout the interior, each element works together to create a home that feels calm, cohesive and easy to live in.

It’s these quieter details that define truly well-designed homes.

THE BRIEF | Crawley Penthouse

This project began with a clear vision from our clients: uninterrupted river views and a home designed for connection.

The design approach centred on opening the interior to the outlook while creating spaces that flow effortlessly between gathering, entertaining and everyday living. With a close-knit, growing family in mind, the home needed to feel both functional and adaptable over time.

Refining the existing architecture and softening the original hard edges helped shape a home that feels calm, cohesive and welcoming.

Swipe to see the difference intentional lighting makes.

Throughout the Crawley Penthouse, integrated LED strip lighting was used to create a soft ambient glow and maintain a consistent warm tone across the home. The result is a space that feels calm, inviting, and quietly elevated.

Step inside the Crawley Penthouse with Tam and Mel.

Set along the riverfront, this penthouse was completely reimagined to better embrace its sweeping views and the way the home unfolds from space to space.

Taken back to bare structure and rebuilt with a fresh layout, each area now feels visually connected while maintaining its own distinct atmosphere, creating a series of elegant living and entertaining zones that feel both luxurious and effortless.

Crawley Staircase Reimagined.

One of the most defining elements of the Crawley Penthouse renovation was the staircase.

Originally an angular, brutalist structure, the brief called for softening the hard edges and transforming it into a sculptural feature within the entry.

Through a highly collaborative process, the staircase was reimagined as a smooth elliptical form. Entirely custom-built, including the structure, curved handrail and moulded balustrade, it was finished in polished plaster to flow seamlessly into the surrounding architecture.

Above, petal pendant lights were introduced to complement the new form, their soft glow reflecting gently off the curved surfaces and enhancing the sculptural quality of the space.

Due to its complexity, much of the design development occurred on site through ongoing collaboration between design intent and construction.

Luxury that still feels like home.

Our client wanted a high-end, hotel-inspired kitchen that didn’t feel untouchable. By removing the overhead cabinetry, we allowed the porcelain splashback to run full height and become a seamless feature.

Timber detailing across the ceiling and island introduces warmth, while integrated appliances reduce visual noise, creating a space that feels calm, refined, and completely liveable.

The Drop | Mel’s current material moment!

This month, Mel is loving the Shiki Range from Odin Tiles + Coverings and for good reason!

With a beautifully considered palette of earthy neutrals and deeper, moodier tones, this collection brings both warmth and versatility to a space.

Available in a classic subway format and a Kit Kat profile, these tiles would look stunning as a kitchen splashback, elevating a curved wall, or creating a refined bathroom feature.

Explore the Shiki Range at Odin Tiles + Coverings and tell us where you’d use it!

Designed for flexibility.

In our Crawley project, a custom sliding door allows the ensuite to open entirely to the master bedroom, or close off for privacy when needed.

The result is a seamless connection between the two spaces without compromising function.

It is these quiet details that elevate a home.
