Kapuddle
car-pooling made easy Kapuddle is an app that reduces congestion, reduces journey times, and reduces car ownership costs - using existing resources.
The by product is it reduces CO2, and reduces the amount needed for investment in infrastructure. How: It matches drivers with passengers for regular scheduled trips from home to work and back. Drivers recover cost of trips, passengers get affordable convenience. Kapuddle is the simple, safe, and scheduled way to improve peoples’ lives (and save the planet). Every car we take off the road is the equivalent of planting 20 trees. We aim to plant the equivalent of 1.5M trees in Perth alone.

The American government understand the benefits of car pool lanes.
Why don't the WA State government?
Senate unanimously passes carpool lane bill; would let higher-population counties have them The Senate has voted unanimously, 32-0, in favor of SB 1312a, the bill to let more-populated counties in Idaho designate high-occupancy vehicle lanes, or carpool lanes. Currently, state law allows

'Ride-hailing trips [like Uber, Didi, and Lyft] generate 69% more climate pollution on average than the trips displaced by them.'
Imagine the effect if we car-pooled?
Driving Your Own Car Creates Less Climate Pollution Than Ride-hailing According to the Union of Concerned Scientists, ride-hailing generates more emissions than private car trips.

New report into 'ride-sharing' finds "When compared to trips made in private vehicles, non-pooled ride-hailing trips on average produce almost 50% more emissions.'
With ride-hailing services now providing more trips than taxis, the growth of ride-hailing has directly contributed to increased local pollution and exacerbated traffic congestion in dense urban areas."
Kapuddle is authentic car-sharing. Not ride-sharing. Our goal is to reduce car emissions, by reducing the number of cars on the road. We are the the opposite of these taxis by another name.
UCS: ride-hailing trips can produce nearly 70% greater emissions compared to private car trips A new report by the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) finds that the rising use of ride-hailing services is increasing carbon emissions, with ride-hailing trips producing nearly 70% greater emissions compared to the trips they are replacing. This significant increase in emissions comes in part fro...

A backwards step in ACT.
ACT Greens transport spokeswoman Caroline Le Couteur, said the move was "out-of-step" with the government's climate action commitments.
"This is the kind of disappointing decision you get when a government wants a cheap, short-term solution, and when they forget about the about the long-term sustainability of the city."
Sounds familiar. It's true in WA too.
New lane to reduce commute time by 5 minutes, ACT government says Changes to Adelaide Avenue would reduce the daily commute time for people in Weston Creek and Molonglo by up to five minutes, the ACT government says.

Grr. State government could sort this now by converting bus lanes to transit lanes to prioritise high occupancy vehicles and banning commercial ride sharing from Uber, Ola and Didi. Ride sharing is crippling the environment, our health and our pockets.

These guys get it.
It's not about self-driving cars, it's about more people in fewer vehicles This year alone, there are about 276 million vehicles operating on roads throughout the United States. Despite the current fascination with the concept of self-driving cars and their potential to reduce traffic congestion, a researcher at Florida Atlantic University says that may not be a solution.....

We think ride sharing taxis are contributing to global warming. Do you agree? (Hint: Yes).
Ride-hailing apps are making the developing world's traffic problems worse Services like Uber and Lyft have revolutionized transportation, but in the developing world's highly congested cities they are only adding to the problem. Could a transportation system based on mass transit solutions be the answer?

Infrastructure Australia says roads and transport must 'catch up' to keep pace with population.
We say, State Govt must 'catch up' with the research on carpooling.
$600bn of spending needed over next 15 years, Infrastructure Australia says Urban fringes of Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth are particularly stretched due to the population boom

$600bn of spending needed over next 15 years, Infrastructure Australia say.
Use roads cleverly, we say.
Turning bus lanes into Transit Lanes for carpoolers would reduce the number of cars on the roads, and is a lot lot cheaper than building more roads, or widening them. It much cheaper than silly electronic information signs and traffic lights on on ramps, which appears to be WA Labors answer. Real change, real solutions takes vision and courage.
Australia must become constant construction zone or risk collapse, advisory body says Infrastructure Australia says services are coming under unprecedented pressure and the current boom in construction projects needs to become the new normal to keep pace with population growth and changing consumer demands.

Surely this is not sustainable. Ever increasing the tax burden on already stretched resources and stretched battlers requires much bigger ideas. Commuters need more reasons to leave their cars at home not more roads to fill with Ubers and Olas.
