There’s no shortage of fantastic WA music to play at a WA pub. Are the guys that influenced Kurt Cobain not worth playing?
The Scientists - Wikipedia The Scientists are a post-punk band from Perth, Western Australia, led by Kim Salmon, initially known as the Exterminators and then the Invaders.[1] The band had two primary incarnations: the Perth-based punk band of the late 1970s and the Sydney/London-based swamp rock band of the 1980s.
The Brass Monkey has been playing mainly back to back 1970s USA funk / disco for the last few months and it’s been driving me nuts.
I take it they are doing this to avoid paying high artist royalties - whack on a playlist of very average 1970s funk / disco and pay cents a day in royalties.
Right now they are playing The Supreme’s ‘You can’t hurry love’ - released in 1966. It was released 58 years ago!
Well cause the cr@p music had driven me mad, I made to call for a positive change - a commitment from WA pubs to play at least 25% WA music at all times.
This will provide WA artists of now and the past with royalties and exposure. Get on board, let’s push back against this cr@p from ALH Group.
WA punters and WA musos deserve better than reheated audio slop!
