I rewarded myself for editing all morning with my first visit to . I'll be back later in the month because I couldn't see everything in one visit. Loved the turtles in the First Creek wetland, the Victoria Amazonica giant water lily with its spiky flower bud, the world's only deciduous cypress, the greenhouses and the avenues. So beautiful. Thank you for the Adelaide experiences.

Caught the bus to Burnside today and hiked 8km from there to First Falls at Waterfall Gully, and back. Thrilled to spot my first koala of this trip! Rewarded myself with a gf red velvet cookie and coffee, then bus home. A wonderful day.
Thanks as always to the for this residency and I'm looking forward to visiting Burnside Library in 2 weeks to give an author talk!

Link where you would expect it to be.

Absolutely loving the creative refills from exploring a new city while I'm writer in residence at The Burrow, the Adelaide writing studio belonging to The May Gibbs Children's Literature Trust. I've written loads already and gave myself a day out at today. Saw my first capybaras!
Lunch at a tasty Ramen bar and dessert across the road at frozen yoghurt Rundle St.
Bus home, then a bit of work followed by veggie curry for dinner and some crochet.

Not shown: many excited schoolchildren. Me missing my bus stop. A komodo dragon stalking two high school boys.

I've got a new free serialized story in the Curse Responders cozy fantasy world starting Monday. A modern young witch — a restless spirit — and a cat with mild indigestion. A new three-part story.

Today my cozy fantasy story serial began! Sneak peak:

Treya couldn’t blame her partner for snoozing on the job. The woods were dappled with sunshine this morning, and the breeze drifted pleasantly through the trees. They were on their second rotation around the Sleight City walls in a cart that rocked comfortingly beneath Kassandra the mule’s plodding pace. And they were both full of donuts.

Besides, Goblins were partly nocturnal, which meant Bagstowe spent all night bickering with their partner. This was considered romantic and healthy in Goblin relationships, but it meant Bagstowe often drifted off if the job was quiet during daylight hours. When they had a night shift, Treya was the one who got to snooze. Right now, she was enjoying the peace as the cart trundled along the trail at the edge of the woods, will o’the wisps flitting through the understory.

There was a noise like a dull sonic boom from a new summoning. A pigeon approached with a whirring whistle and clattered onto the back of the cart, surprising Bagstowe out of their slumber.
