We're excited to share that our Founder, Doug Bester, will be a keynote speaker at the AusIMM Iron Ore | Open Pit Operators Conference 2026 — Perth Convention Centre, 23–25 June.
Doug will present: "Building Digital Resiliency: How Mining Companies Can Adapt and Thrive in this Age of Disruptive Technologies"
With 35+ years in technical operations and nearly two decades building Sentient, Doug brings hard-won experience from deploying VR training, immersive simulations, and industrial digital twins with iron ore operators across Australia.
We'll also have a stand, so come and find us at Stand 13. More detail on Doug's session closer to the date.

Your stand doesn't need to be bigger. It needs to be interactive.
How interactive, immersive experiences turn passers-by into participants, and participants into conversations worth having.
Here's what that looks like in practice.
At IODS 2026 this week, Sentient is proud to be at the stand with a real-time interactive 3D desktop application we built specifically for this event — showcasing their Henderson facility and Marine & Defence capabilities to one of the most senior defence industry audiences in the region.
The experience opens with an Australia-wide view of Civmec's operations, lets users drill into site-level detail, walk through guided 3D animations of the fabrication process, and explore at their own pace.
Facilitated demo or free explore — built for expos exactly like this one.
When people do, they remember. When they remember, they talk about it.
Before a single eLearning module is built or a VR scenario scripted, our Instructional Design team does the work that makes everything else land.
They sit with your subject matter experts. They audit your existing training materials. They
identify what's working, what's missing, and what needs restructuring. Then they design learning outcomes that are measurable, relevant, and connected to on-site
performance.
This isn't about making content look good. It's about making training work.
Good instructional design is invisible, you don't notice it… You just notice that people
remember what they learned.
The technology is impressive. But the instructional design is what makes it stick.

How AI is Reshaping our Workflow
AI won't make decisions for us.
Last week our technical team shared what AI actually looks like on the ground. This week, we asked the people managing the work and shaping the direction;
Yann keeps Sentient's projects on track as our Guardian and Value Stream Lead; the person responsible for making sure complex, high-stakes deliverables land on time and to standard. Rowe works across sales and business development, translating our capabilities of XR and immersive technology into value our clients can see for themselves.
In this video, they share how we're actually using AI in our day-to-day work.
For Leonie, AI earns its place by handling the tedious stuff, allowing the team to put their energy into what matters; creative thinking, strategic decisions, and telling better stories for our clients.
For Thomas, it's about speed and proof of concept. What once took weeks can now be prototyped in hours so clients can see ideas faster and the feedback loops tighten. But the credibility that comes from working with Sentient isn't AI generated. It's earned through demonstrated understanding of the problem.
That's how we're navigating it at Sentient with curiosity, care, and a healthy dose of scepticism. Ultimately AI is powerful when it clears the path so humans can do the thing only humans can do.
👇 Watch the video and let us know: how are you balancing AI efficiency with creative control in your work?

Meet Alex G!
Alex joined us as a work experience student while studying a Bachelor of Digital Media. He's quickly proved he was more than ready to jump in and now part of the team as an eLearning Intern, plus he’s been making his mark across content, video, editing and everything in between.
From day one, Alex brought energy and curiosity; taking on anything from marketing content creation to supporting our Meyer Production team on shoots and edits (like he’s been doing it for years).
💬 “I’m really interested in interactive media and creating content that people actually connect with.”
What’s stood out:
⭐ Pulled together inputs from across Sentient (CBTs, VR, Roam, Sequencing) into a high-quality showcase videos
⭐ Confident working with both team members and senior client stakeholders
⭐ Picks up new skills fast and actually enjoys the challenge
⭐ Brings great energy to every task (no matter how big or small)
📌 Alex is already helping us tell the Sentient story more clearly and turning what we do into content that clients can see, understand, and connect with.
Big thanks Alex for the enthusiasm, the initiative, and the impact you’ve made so early on.
Blended learning isn't just about combining eLearning and VR. It's about designing a complete pathway that prepares people for what really matters: performing safely on site.
Here's how it works:
Step 1 — Instructional Design
Our Instructional Design (ID) team works with your SMEs to define learning outcomes, audit existing content, and structure a pathway that builds knowledge progressively.
Step 2 — eLearning (the knowledge)
Interactive computer based modules with embedded 2D and 3D animations deliver site-specific theory. Learners engage with scenarios, not just slides.
Step 3 — VR (the practice)
Learners step into a realistic VR environment and apply what they've learned. No risk. Full context. Real decisions.
Step 4 — Field-Based Verification (the real thing)
On site, the learner is assessed performing the task under real operational conditions, supervised, observed, and signed off. This is where it all comes together.
What steps 1–3 do is ensure the learner arrives at site better prepared. They're not applying new knowledge for the first time on the job, they've already learned it, practiced it, and built familiarity. That means reduced time to competency and faster progression to performing their role.

If you work in bulk material operations, stockyard planning, or business improvement — Stand 13 in the GRX26 Innovation Zone is worth 10 minutes of your time.
Here's what you'll find when you stop by:
→ StockyardViz running live with real-time data. Not a walkthrough. Not slides. Stacker and reclaimer positions, stockpile geometry, inventory volumes, blend quality, all in one navigable view.
→ A conversation about what deployment actually looks like. OPC, historian, API integration. Standard hardware. No replacement of your existing systems. We'll walk you through the reality of going from first conversation to live operation.
→ A chance to book a focused session with our team during Austmine GRX26 or post-event if you want to go deeper than a stand conversation allows.
→ And yes, there's gold (chocolate gold) on the table. What would full operational visibility save your stockyard? Take a guess and win the jar + a Yeti Hopper Flip Cooler! 🪙
