I quit Instagram and the news for a week.
Here’s what happened....
Have you ever noticed how much of your attention gets taken before the day has even really started?
You check Instagram for a minute. Then suddenly you are looking at what everyone else is doing. What they are building. Where they are going. How fit they look. How successful they seem.
And without even realising it, you have been pulled away from your own stuff.
→ Your own work.
→ Your own family.
→ Your own health.
→ Your own goals.
I was doing this constantly. Not always for hours at a time. But enough that it was stealing little pieces of my focus every day.
And the news was doing something similar.
Have you ever read one headline and then felt your body tense up? I even sold a bunch of shares based off what I read.
World events. Bad news. Drama. Arguments. Things you cannot control.
And then you carry that stress into your work, your training, your family, or your clients.
That was happening to me more than I realised.
So I took Instagram and the news off my phone for a week.
And honestly, I feel clearer than I have in ages.
→ More focused.
→ More energised.
→ More productive.
→ More present.
This week I built more of the Diamond Dogs course, which is going to help men in their mid 40s get clear, healthy, focused and proud of their life again.
I created the course manual.
I planned my 14 habits in 14 days email list for over 40s.
I coached better in class.
I felt more present with people.
And I helped clients hit PBs in deadlifts and pull ups.
And it did not come from adding another complicated routine.
It came from removing something that was stealing my attention.
So maybe the question is not always:
What do I need to add?
Maybe sometimes the better question is:
What do I need to remove that is stealing my focus and energy?
This is one of the habits I’ll be sharing in my new email list coming soon:
14 habits in 14 days for men over 40.
Simple habits to help rebuild your body, energy, focus and calm.
Link will be up next week.
I'm so proud of this guy, brings a tear to my eye 😭
6 months ago Paul;
🔹Could barely bend his knees
🔹Told by his Dr that his health was in a really bad way
🔹Hadn't exercised in years with a very busy job
Now. Been training twice a week
Recently came to class and kept up with the regulars
Health markers drastically improved
And the difference in his movement and body is REMARKABLE
Literally brings tears to my eyes seeing someone who was heading probably for an early grave thriving like this
I don’t know about you, but I’m finding my 40s hard.
A mostly fully booked work schedule and starting 5.15am every morning.
Trying to keep a great relationship with my partner and kids when I’m tired thanks for all you do.
Figuring out how to help with meltdowns, while food prepping, washing, debriefing and processing how to grow business without working a billion hours while distracted with all the worlds noise.
So I joined a 12 week program with an old mentor
To get me clear on a plan and stick with it.
I’m good at training people. I’m good at getting tight bodies moving again.
But I’m not great at social media.
And I’m definitely not great at sticking to a plan when I’m building something for myself.
Because I want to create something special for people in their 40s.
For the people I do my best work with.
The people who feel stiff, tired, out of shape, overwhelmed and know they need something to change.
Who have had a season of life where they have focused on work and family but now they need their health to be a priority.
I already have the concept.
Micro habits for over 40’s that make major changes.
Getting healthy, pain free and in shape without completely flipping your life upside down.
The part that I find hardest?
This.
Actually putting something out there.
Because my default setting is brainstorming forever, making things perfect, doubting myself and doing nothing.
So this is me taking the first step.
In 12 weeks or less, I’ll have something amazing.
For now the habit we are doing which I would highly recommend is to watch Ted Lasso. Best show ever.
Can only feel like being a better person watching it.
Don't let this be you. See me.

Me vs Chat GPT
I asked Chat GPT to make me a 12 week workout for over 40’s that combines strength and mobility, like my online program released this week.
Looked great…
Until you look deeper.
The exercise selection wasn’t great.
The rest periods were way off.
The pairings of mobility and strength don't make sense.
It was generic.
Better than nothing.
But not great.
I only know that because I’ve spent 20 years actually coaching people.
Seeing how real human bodies respond to training, stress, injuries, sleep, motivation and life.
And the most important thing AI still can’t do
🔹Keep you accountable when motivation drops.
🔹Adjust when your back flares up or work gets stressful.
🔹Actually care whether you stick with it or not.
Right now if you’re over 40 and trying to get back into training, you’ve got 3 choices.
🔹Do nothing.
Your results will be zero.
🔹Use a generic program, old workouts from your 20’s or an AI-generated plan.
Your results will be average and there’s a good chance you won’t stick with it and you'll be back at step 1.
🔹Work with a coach.
Me or someone else you connect with and who gets you
Highest chance of result
AI might get there one day with exercise programming
But it’s not there yet.
For now…
Use AI for cool images (like I did) and to soften the angry email you are about to send to your boss.
But use a real coach for your body.
Here are three simple ways to add mobility to your workouts
1) Stretch while you rest
2) Do mobility based warm ups rather than cardio
3) Choose exercises that work through full ROM, add pauses and active holds
All over 40’s should add stretching into their workouts.
Most people don’t move enough anymore. Then they try to train like they did at 25 and wonder why everything feels tight, sore or injured.
Mobility work helps you;
• Reduce injuries
• Build more muscle through better movement
• Keep training consistently for years instead of constantly dealing with niggles
In my 12 week program mobility is integrated into all workouts. Meaning you get more mobile as you train, not more like tin man. Check it out in my bio links.
My 12 week program for over 40’s is live.
It combines strength and mobility so you can get back to training while getting more mobile and having less pain.
Combining 20 years of experience training clients and stretching tight bodies.
If you’re over 40 tight, sore, or feel like your body just isn’t cooperating anymore but want to train this is for you.
I’ve been working on this for over 6 months with a mentor who I'm very grateful for. (he knows who he is)
Filmed and refilmed everything. Rewrote the landing page more times than I can count.
Even woke up at 2am last night making final tweaks being a perfectionist. But it's ready.
I’ve been using it with many clients and on myself… and the difference has been huge.
More info coming.
If you want to check it out now, it’s in my bio.
Thanks to for the photo
