Those trials that have driven me to my knees,
That was when I depended most on God -
And though I wouldn’t wish those trials on my worst enemy,
I am so thankful, to have had that chance
To realise how very weak I am,
And how very strong God is.

I saw this on Pinterest the other day and it stuck.

‘Worry is worshipping the problem’.

When I choose to dwell on a problem and let it consume me, it becomes worship.
But the only one deserving of worship, of my consuming love and devotion, is God.

God is: holy, just, faithful, true, good, gracious, merciful, patient, loving, almighty, sovereign, creator, everlasting, father, shepherd, king, rock, refuge, fortress, redeemer, saviour, light, living water, bread of life. The list could go on.. how glad I am to serve such a God! đŸŒŒđŸ©·

We had a very convicting sermon this afternoon about Hebrews 13:5- ‘Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”’

This quote from John Wesley was shared, in the context of how we only need the basic necessities. John Wesley lived his life by the above, also saying ‘gain all you can, save all you can, give all you can’.

Living in this western world makes it so hard to be content. But the bible often calls us to the hard choice.

Like I said, the sermon convicted me. Perhaps this post convicts you and like me, it’s time to really look at my life- what I spend and what I give. Am I building my own kingdom or am I seeking Gods? When I am blessed by avid with more, am I keeping only what I need or do I choose greed?

Ephesians 4:22-24
[22] to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, [23] and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, [24] and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.

Not a biblical proverb, but I’d argue it has some theology to it. 1 Thessalonians 5 says ‘rejoice ALWAYS’ and ‘give thanks in ALL circumstances’. Whether the weather is good or bad, we can find joy
why? Because of Christ! Everything could be taken from us, but we can never be taken from His arms. He is always there, sympathising, comforting and loving us. We have our identity and security in Him; and so from that truth you truly can find joy in all things.
