5 Strategies to Help Your Business Bridge the Change Resilience Gap 08/03/2023

I've been blown away by Theone's Ted Talk on resilience. She shares such a personal story and vulnerability. It reminded me of Brene Brown's masterpiece Daring Greatly.

Coincidently our team has just released a video from our Resilient Change Leader course, focussing on 5 practical tips to bridge the resilience gap.
So if you are on a similar journey and find yourself or colleagues treading water in a VUCA environment, will find our video, the Ted Talk or Brene's book a life raft.

Melinda was right when she said:

"Remember that no one is born a change-maker. It's something you become when you see a problem, then dare to become part of the solution".

Here are 3 tips on how you can be part of the solution.

1. Be passionate and committed to the cause
2. Have a clear vision and goal
3. Be relentless in communicating change

Being relentless in communicating change means being consistent and never giving up. It requires communicating the vision and goal of the change to all stakeholders and ensuring that everyone is on board with the plan. It also means communicating any progress or setbacks along the way.

There is nothing we like more than creating fun change analogies. And what's more fun than change around Christmas time?

So let's take our friend Santa Claus. He's undergone quite a transformation from Saint Nicholas to St. Nick to the Santa Claus, we know today.

With agility, he transformed from a Christian bishop providing for people, children and sailors, to a "Jolly old elf" as described in the poem by CC Moore in 1822.

Since then, he's held with resilience onto his looks and only made small step-changes, such as the red suit with the white fur trim in 1881.

So what does this mean for Change Managers?

Well, just like Santa Claus has had to adapt over time to stay relevant, so do Change Managers.

- We need to be agile in our approach and constantly evolving our methods to meet the needs of our changing organisations.
- We need to be resilient when it comes to implementing change, making sure that we stick with it even when times are tough.
- We need to be wise in our decisions, always looking for ways to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

Do you think that our kind, charitable bishop, Saint Nicholas who has become the Santa Claus we know today, is going through another major transformation?

Today, I'm reflecting on Kotter's quote.

Organisations need more than one charismatic leader to bring about a major change. You need a team of people who are committed to driving the change. Otherwise, it will never happen.

Leaders need to be able to enrol others in their advocacy network to make calm, purposeful choices. But we also need to step up and take responsibility for change ourselves. We can't just wait for someone else to do it.

If you want to bring about a major change in your organisation, start by building an advocacy network. It will take time and effort, but it's worth it. Change won't happen unless we make it happen.

How the Metaverse Could Change Work 23/11/2022

In a few years, the metaverse will be an integral part of our lives. It will change the way we work, interact, and connect. And as the metaverse grows, so too will the need for change management.

The metaverse will present new challenges for businesses and organisations but with these challenges comes opportunity. The metaverse provides a blank canvas for businesses to create new, innovative ways of working. It’s an opportunity to build better relationships with customers and employees, and to create truly out-of-this-world experiences.

So, what does the metaverse mean for change management? Here are three ways the metaverse will change the way we manage change:

1. The metaverse will increase the need for agility
2. The metaverse will require new skills
3. The metaverse will create new opportunities
