CASSIDY + BEN // A massive downpour, followed by a power outage. Yet these two didn't let their smiles fade for a single moment. We pivoted, we adapted, I just kept shooting, even in some unorthodox spots, but we made it work. I'm pretty chuffed at what we had captured, in spite of the numerous challenges that day.

Jess + Kit // Just before the new year, I had the privilege of capturing the wedding of a dear friend I've known for over 20 years. We met when we were late teens and hung out a lot before we went on our own separate journeys, finding our respective lifelong partners, but we still kept in touch every few years. We supported each other through some tough times during the early years, and so it was humbling to be a part of this special day.

27 Dec became one more milestone in our lives as I got to witness an old friend finally tie the knot with the love of her life in an intimate ceremony with just family. For myself, this was a really special way to end the year and I could not have asked for anything else.

Jess's dress was designed from scratch, made in the traditional Vietnamese style to honour Jess' heritage, but also incorporating a motif of native Australian flowers and birds.

The wedding bands were remade from Kit's grandmother's wedding ring and restored with gold from family heirloom jewellery.

It's all these little touches that make even a small wedding like this so much more meaningful than 200 guests, expensive designer clothes, and a flashy reception.
