What businesses underestimate most about insurance isn’t usually the policy itself.

It’s the speed at which their business changes.

A company grows.
Revenue increases.
New contracts get signed.
More staff come on board.
Equipment gets upgraded.
Operations expand interstate.

But the insurance? Sometimes it stays almost exactly the same.

One of the most common things we identify when reviewing new accounts is cover that no longer reflects the business as it operates today.

Not because people are careless. Because business owners are busy building businesses, not reviewing policy wording every week.

The problem is, claims don’t assess your intentions.

The Interlink team hit the pavement for the 2026 HBF Run for a Reason in support of Beyond Blue, alongside thousands of other West Aussies raising funds for causes that matter.

Huge effort from Kayla Flood and Tryan Christos, who took on the 12km, and Lucy Roberts and Marisa Botes, who completed the 3km walk. They were joined by Dale Foster from Decobu and Courtney from Gotcha Media, who came along to cheer the team on.

Great atmosphere, great cause.

Almost midnight. A mechanical failure triggers a pressure drop. Then an explosion.

Viva Energy's Geelong refinery, one of only two left in Australia, offline in an instant.

~50 workers on site. Zero injuries. But after a 12-hour blaze, the structural damage was unavoidable.

Within days, an ASX announcement confirmed: property and business interruption cover were in place.

In events like this, you don't get to choose. You need both.

Property cover: the plant, the equipment, the alkylation unit that bore the brunt.

Business interruption cover: lost revenue, ongoing fixed costs, the gap between what you were earning and what you're earning now. Potentially for months.

Both policies in place. Both still being assessed. The full picture is still emerging with many more questions to answer.

One question you should ask yourself: if your fire alarm went off tonight, would you be covered?
