Creativity was in full bloom at Atlantis Ocean Keys!
The children transformed our bike track into the ultimate art canvas, using colourful chalk to bring their imaginative creations to life. From vibrant drawings and patterns to unique masterpieces, it was wonderful to see the children expressing themselves, sharing ideas with friends. Most importantly, they had so much fun turning an ordinary space into a colourful gallery of imagination and joy. 🖍️

Babies room🪻🌿

As part of our learning about the Noongar season of Makuru, the babies explored the Blueberry Lily through both collaborative and individual art experiences. Using recycled cardboard tubes, recycled paper, and seasonal colours, the children worked together to create a beautiful Blueberry Lily mural while also creating their own unique artworks.

These creative experiences encouraged the children to explore different textures, colours, and materials while developing their fine motor skills and self-expression. Using recycled resources also supported conversations about sustainability and caring for our environment. Through both individual and collaborative art-making, the children developed a sense of belonging, creativity, and connection to the natural world and the changing season of Makuru.

🌈 What a fantastic week of discovery at Atlantis Ocean Keys OSHC! 🌈

Our young scientists have been busy diving deep into the world of experiments, making predictions, testing their ideas, and exploring the amazing reactions that happen when science comes to life! From creating erupting Lemon Volcanoes to watching the magic of Colourful Milk, the children have been fascinated by the chemical reactions unfolding before their eyes. Along the way, they carefully observed, documented their results, and shared their thoughts on what they thought might happen next.

🌊🐚 Ocean Discovery with Charlotte 🐚🌊

To further our learning from World Oceans Day, our Pre-Kindy and Toddler children enjoyed a special Ocean Discovery session with Charlotte from Ocean Discovery Education

The children were captivated as they explored a wide range of ocean-themed resources and marine artefacts. The hands-on experience encouraged curiosity, investigation, and meaningful conversations about the amazing creatures that live in our oceans. A favorite part of the incursion was the opportunity to touch real sea stars, with many children excitedly sharing their observations and asking questions.

Through sensory exploration and interactive learning, the children deepened their understanding of ocean life and the importance of protecting our marine environments. Experiences like these help foster a sense of wonder, respect, and appreciation for the natural world while supporting children's confidence, language development, and inquiry skills.

Thank you, Charlotte, for providing such an engaging and memorable learning experience. We had so much fun discovering the wonders of the ocean! 🌊⭐🐠🐚

This week, we introduced our exciting Educator of the Week Raffle, which will be drawn alongside the children's raffle draw each week!

The children have been enthusiastically writing nominations for educators, sharing kind words and highlighting the special connections and meaningful relationships they have built with our team. It has been wonderful to see the children reflect on the positive impact educators have on their experiences and celebrate the care, support, and fun they bring to our community.

We can't wait to read all the thoughtful nominations and celebrate our amazing educators together! 💙

This week we proudly celebrated Thank a First Responder Day by welcoming some of our local first responders to Atlantis Education Centre for a coffee and chat. Many of our visitors were not only first responders, but also valued members of our community – parents, friends, sisters, aunties, and uncles.

The children had a wonderful opportunity to meet our local paramedics and police officers, explore the ambulance, learn about the important equipment they use, and ask questions about their roles. Through these meaningful interactions, children gained a deeper understanding of how first responders help, protect, and keep our community safe every day.

An important part of our discussions was teaching children about Triple Zero (000) – Australia's emergency number. Learning when and how to call 000 helps children build awareness of emergency services and understand who can help in times of need.

💙 Thank you to all our first responders for making a difference every day.

Reconciliation Week

During Reconciliation Week, our team reflected on the importance of creating opportunities for children to develop a sense of kindness, belonging, and connection. Through a range of meaningful experiences, including storytelling, sensory play, and collaborative activities, children were encouraged to come together, listen to different perspectives, and build respectful relationships with one another.

Children engaged in stories that celebrated Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, sparking conversations about community, respect, and caring for others. Sensory experiences supported children's fine motor development while also providing opportunities to explore, create, and connect alongside their peers. Through these shared experiences, children demonstrated empathy, teamwork, and cooperation as they worked together, shared ideas, and expressed their thoughts and feelings.

As a team, we recognised the value of embedding reconciliation into everyday learning experiences, supporting children to develop an understanding of kindness, inclusion, and respect for the diverse cultures and communities that make up Australia.
