If you live in a Perth apartment and you’re thinking about an EV, the most common question is: can I actually charge at home?
In many Perth buildings, the answer is yes. EV charging can be set up directly in your car bay, metered to your apartment and included on your regular monthly invoice alongside electricity and water. No separate account, no manual readings.
If you’re not sure whether your building supports it, the first step is asking your strata manager or building manager. The infrastructure varies from building to building and it’s worth knowing what’s available before you make a decision.

In a well-run apartment building, hot water is metered to each apartment individually. Your invoice shows what you used, and nothing else.
Hot water usage tends to rise in winter. Longer showers, colder mornings. Completely normal, and the meter only ever charges you for what you actually use.

Winter is coming. And so are higher energy bills.
If you live in a Perth apartment with centralised hot water, your usage tends to increase over winter. A few tips to keep costs down:
Shorter showers make the biggest difference to your hot water bill. Check that your dishwasher and washing machine are set to cold where possible. If your building has centralised air conditioning, keep the thermostat steady.
Your monthly invoice shows your exact usage. If something looks higher than expected, get in touch and we can help you understand what is driving it.

Ever wondered why your electricity bill comes from your building instead of Synergy?
If you live in a Perth apartment, your building might have what is called an embedded network. It means the building buys electricity in bulk and provides it to each apartment through individual meters.

Can multi-residential buildings handle a basement full of EVs ?
They can if early provisioning is done right.
