π Basketball Fun During Tag Sports! π
Kaya Families,
Over the past few weeks, the children have been developing their basketball skills during our Tag Sports sessions. It has been fantastic to see their excitement and confidence grow as they explored different ways to move with and control a basketball while participating in fun and engaging games.
The children practised a variety of basketball skills, including shooting the ball through a hoop, dribbling, and ball control activities. Through these experiences, they developed coordination, concentration, and confidence while learning the fundamentals of the game.
During our shooting activities, the children worked on aiming and throwing the ball towards the hoop. They learned how to judge distance, use controlled movements, and celebrate their achievements as they successfully scored baskets.
The children also enjoyed dribbling practice, where they learned to bounce the ball while moving around the playing area. This helped strengthen their hand-eye coordination, balance, and ability to control the ball while staying aware of their surroundings.
Our ball control games encouraged children to roll, pass, catch, and manoeuvre the basketball using different movements and techniques. These activities supported the development of fine and gross motor skills while promoting perseverance and problem-solving.
The physical literacy elements that were focused on this week were object manipulation, reaction time, coordination, movement with equipment, special awareness and collaboration.
The children showed wonderful enthusiasm, encouraged their peers, and demonstrated great sportsmanship throughout each session. We are incredibly proud of their efforts and the progress they have made while learning the fundamentals of basketball.
Great work, future basketball stars! ππ
