Absolutely in love with the depth of blue on these fruits!
Blue Quandongs are eastern relatives to the red ones we have traditionally harvested locally.
Their uniquely rich flavors are similar to peaches combined with citrus, adding interest fresh or cooked to just about any recipe you can imagine.
Planning on making the most of these because extremely rare to find, drying to preserve the flesh, and that will be mixed into our native seasoning blend with lemon myrtle, salt bush leaves and mountain pepper.
Some of the hard woody brain-looking seeds will be made into beads for decoration, and some we hope to sprout and grow into beautiful trees πŸ’“

We have been using this spray annually at start of summer and can tell you it really works!
Relatively low cost compared to the other chemical nasties out there and non-harmful to animals/plants/humans, plus it has a nice minty refreshing smell.
As a matter of fact some gardeners have reported that it also helps folliage to grow greener amd stronger, most likely because of the magnesium in the epson salts.
Have a great summer everyone! 😎

Molasses Spray to deter caterpillars and other chewers!!!!

Dissolve one tablespoon of molasses into a litre of warm water.
Add one teaspoon of Sunlight dish washing liquid or other pure liquid soap

Spray regularly over the leaves of all plants attacked by caterpillars and other chewing pests. Caterpillars would rather starve than eat leaves sprayed with this mixture. It has also been used with success by some gardeners as a possum repellent and for the treatment of soil affected by root knot nematodes by doubling the concentration of molasses.

Thanks to the Northam community garden for this hot tip!
