Room 12 put on an amazing assembly this morning, showcasing everything they’ve learnt at swimming lessons this term. They shared their best water safety tips—like why floating helps you stay calm and why walking near the pool is always the smarter move.

They even rewrote the lyrics of Wellerman to reflect what they’ve learnt about swimming and the importance of staying safe around water, turning it into their own catchy, clever safety anthem.

It was energetic, sweet, and full of charm, leaving everyone with a smile and a refreshed reminder of how important it is to stay safe near water. 🏊‍♀️🌊🥽🫧

We are thrilled to announce that Jacob, one of our students, has been selected for the AFL’s Next Generation Academy, an outstanding achievement that reflects his talent, dedication, and passion for the game.
The NGA program focuses on developing young Indigenous and multicultural players, offering elite coaching, skill development, and mentoring within a professional football environment.
Through the Naitanui Academy, participants train under the guidance of Nic Naitanui and gain access to high‑performance facilities and holistic support both on and off the field.
This is an incredible opportunity, and we couldn’t be prouder of Jacobs hard work and success!

Yesterday, we acknowledged National Sorry Day — a time to reflect on the Stolen Generations and recognise the pain and injustices experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. As we now move into National Reconciliation Week, we continue our commitment to building understanding, respect and stronger relationships within our community.

At Edney Primary School, we value the contributions of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community and work to strengthen our partnerships for the benefit of all students. We recognise the deep and continuing connection to land, culture and community, and acknowledge the wrongdoings of the past as we work together towards reconciliation and a more inclusive future.

Later this term, in Week 11, our school will also recognise NAIDOC Week through a range of classroom activities and learning experiences centred around this year’s theme, “50 Years of Deadly”. This theme celebrates the achievements, culture, strength and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples over the past 50 years. Students will have opportunities to engage in meaningful learning that promotes respect, understanding and appreciation of First Nations cultures and histories.
