Esperance locals - our Elder Rights WA team will be in town tomorrow hosting a free information session on future planning. Come along, meet the team and learn about your rights as you age.

Today, on World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, we encourage the Western Australian community to Wise Up, Rise Up against Elder Abuse.

Wise up by learning to recognise the signs of abuse and mistreatment of older people, and knowing where to seek help. Rise up by speaking out against abuse, supporting older West Australians to have their voices heard, and helping protect their rights as they age.

We all have a role to play in creating a safer and more respectful future for older people.

The experts from our Elder Rights WA team will be at Ballajura Library this Friday with a presentation centred on planning for the future and protecting your rights as you age.

Getting older often involves complex decision-making about medical and health care, finances, and lifestyle. Planning ahead empowers you to make choices about who can make decisions for you, in a scenario where you are unable to do so for yourself.

We’re looking for a Senior Legal Counsel (complex trials) to join our Criminal Law Division.

In this newly created role, the Senior Legal Counsel will provide advice and representation in the most complex criminal matters with a focus on superior court trial work. They'll also be instrumental in the development and supervision of junior lawyers in our criminal law practice.

We’re looking for an exceptional lawyer with extensive experience and highly developed skills in the conduct of indictable matters progressing to trial in the District and Supreme Court of Western Australia.

A strong background working with complex and vulnerable clients, a genuine commitment to social justice, and the ability to work under pressure managing a busy schedule of trials would make you an ideal candidate for this role.

On World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) 15 June, our Elder Rights WA team will be participating in a special event in the Mandurah/Peel community.

To raise awareness and provide information to assist older people in Western Australia to stand up against mistreatment and abuse, we'll delve into Enduring Power of Attorney and Guardianship, detail the rights of older people, and discuss legal issues and elder abuse as a criminal offence.
