🌺 Bali announcement 🌺
As well as keynote addresses from both the Attorney General and Chief Justice of Western Australia, we’re looking forward to focused sessions at the Bali Conference in June next year.
These sessions will cover areas including criminal law, civil litigation, family law and practice management, balancing relevance for practitioners who specialise in these areas and considerations for all lawyers.
The first one we can announce is the criminal law session, featuring Magistrate Wendy Hughes (Children’s Court of Western Australia), Robert Owen (Director of Public Prosecutions for Western Australia) and Kate Turtley-Chappel (Legal Pathways). They will be collaborating to present as a panel on contemporary issues in criminal law and take questions from the floor.
We thank Tehan Legal for their support and sponsorship for this session, and the Conference overall.

No one is above the law and it’s important to retain trust in our judicial system by having this oversight measure. But equally it does not imply that there is improper behaviour to investigate as the presumption of innocence still applies.
Powerful new watchdog to probe conduct of West Aussie judges An independent judicial watchdog with the power to reprimand a magistrate or judge for misconduct will be created by the McGowan Government.

The shout-out to Shane Warne’s childhood mate Dave, who saved his life and gave the world another 39 years, by brother Jason Warne was just one of many memorable tributes.
Far from the shower of public praise, a fitting first impression for fans Warne wouldn’t have minded the staginess of his farewell. He wanted every ball to be an event and every event a ball.
