Kicking off in October 2009, the "BEERtasters" project started out as an opportunity to share my passion for the best in craft and artisanal beer.

Countless beer-and-food tasting events later, we rebranded as "NEXT PINT" in 2024; yr next could be yr best!

I’m not sure how many years are required to create a “Classic”, but Eagle Bay’s 90 Pilsner has been as good as WA Summer craft-beer releases get for quite a few years now… It’s an absolute gem and a credit to the brewers involved; an utterly clean, crisp Pilsner with an irresistible, tropical twist of NZ dry-hopping… Do not miss!

Cheers Eagle Bay Brewing Co.

Just a few highlights from last Thursday’s “Spring Into Beer Baby!” tasting at Silly Goose… The Short Stay American Pale Ale from King Road Brewing Co was a dynamic combination with the kitchen’s Empanadas (gone before I could snap a pic)! Then Brasserie Dupont delivered sunshine in a can between courses, before Eagle Bay Brewing’s glorious Yuzu IIPL tackled a Pork Belly main… And that superb hop-bomb collab from Rocky Ridge and Mountain Culture - the fabulously dubbed F**ktangular! - added the juice to dessert.

Finishing us off in style, Common People brought the big finish with their Barrel-Aged Billycart Blonde… It’s a beer that started life as a 7.6% abv Belgian-style Blonde Ale, before spending ten months in ex-rum barrels from the Lord Byron Distillery. During that time, the brew absorbed oak and rum characters, along with alcohol from the wood - becoming a wonderfully complex 10.3% abv beast… Exceptional!

Thanks to all who joined us on this journey, and we looked forward to our annual “Tis The Saison” event before Xmas. Cheers folks!

This has to be one of 2025’s finest brews… The ever-reliable MRBC 8 Ball Double IPA, “Re-racked” to deliver a veritable mountain of piney, resinous, citrus and tropical hop characters. A lean, clean malt base gives a combination of Columbus, Centennial, Citra, Chinook, Simcoe, and Idaho 7 a clear run to assault the palate in magnificent fashion. The beer’s 60 IBU’s of bitterness cuts through, but this hop bill just keeps on giving… So. Damn. Good.

Just a re-cap of two of the featured beers at our annual "Winter Beer Monsters!" 2025 tasting on August 14th... This time it's a superb, Belgian-style local and an absolute classic from the homeland:

Beer No. 3 - Artisan Brewing x Homestead Brewery - Stolen Accordion Frontignac BA Quadrupel (10.1% abv), plus...

Beer No. 5 - Gouden Carolus Cuvee Van De Keizer Imperial Dark (11% abv) [fka Van De Keizer Blauw]

AMAZING!

Cheers to Artisan Brewing & Brouwerij Het Anker...

"WINTER BEER MONSTERS!" 2025...

A small crafty at the gateway to the Snowy Mountains - Tumut River Brewing - provided our fourth beer of the the night on August 14... Brewer Michael Cichocki leant on his Polish heritage to acquire a baltic porter recipe from AleBrowar, translating it into English, and acquiring the ton of malts - ten different varieties - this bold, black lager required. Undeath Lord (10.5% abv) was the gloriously smoky result, and was an ideal companion for the Cuban Pork Belly and Charred Corn we served for main course. It was a big-flavoured, winter-friendly beer-and-food match to savour!
