The Alfresco Factory Original oven is a very popular size for those wanting a bigger cooking area and longer heat retention.

If you are considering purchasing an Original DIY kit, there are some heavy components to move that will require a little forward thought and planning.

Aaron from Perth detailed his Traditional Original DIY kit assembly journey in emails to us along with progress pics. There are some great tips in the following excerpts from Aaron's emails if you are planning to build one of our Original sized oven kits.

"Iโ€™ve attached a couple of progress shots (of the floor). So far itโ€™s going ok. I rang Trent this morning with some queries (thanks Trent!)."

"Front and rear dome is on! It was very successful. I managed to borrow a lot of equipment from friends and family so that made it easy. Dual chain blocks worked a treat. The rest of the steps went ok. I found after installing the insulation blanket (I used insulation tape to hold it tight together), the tin foil was falling and flying away. So I did the chicken mesh first, then removed it as one large shell. Quickly lay the tin foil and put the chicken wire back on top."

"All done yesterday. I draped some towels over it and a tarp to keep the heavy rain off it. All looks fine this morning. As weโ€™ve got rain on/off this week I might leave it a little longer than the 7 days (maybe 10) before doing the curing process. Will see how itโ€™s looking."

"I finished yesterday day #1 cure. Got it to around 125C and held it for about 10 hrs. It took about 4-5 hrs to get to that temp so a nice slow build up. This morning I started at 5am and got it back to 125C (it had only dropped to 85-90 so held temp well overnight with door fully closed). Slowly increased to 200-250"

"A great weekend. Took about 4hrs to get up to temp (around 400). I took it slow as itโ€™s the first time going to that temp. The oven held the temp really well and only needed a small amount of wood to maintain it. Pizzas cooked in about 2-2.5min. I put 10 through. Need to work on my dough recipe but they still tasted great. Thanks for the help along the way!"

Thank YOU Aaron for taking the time to document the process! What a superb job you have done in building your Traditional Original oven DIY kit! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป
