The services that consistently develop confident, capable educators understand that supporting students requires more than simply giving them tasks to complete.
Here are a few practical training tips for services hosting student educators:
* Create a structured induction so students understand your service, expectations and daily routines.
* Assign a mentor who can provide guidance, answer questions and model best practice.
* Schedule regular check-ins to discuss progress, challenges and learning goals.
* Encourage students to observe different rooms, age groups and teaching styles.
* Provide constructive feedback that focuses on growth and development.
* Give students opportunities to actively participate in programming, documentation and family interactions.
Remember, today's student educators are tomorrow's lead educators, educational leaders and service managers.
The time and support invested during placement can have a lasting impact on their confidence, capability and commitment to the profession.
What does your service do to help student educators succeed?

Behind every thriving service is something very important:
A team that feels supported to learn, grow and succeed.
Great leaders understand that educator confidence doesn't happen by chance. It grows through everyday leadership practices such as:
- Creating a culture where questions are encouraged.
- Providing regular, constructive feedback.
- Celebrating progress, not just performance.
- Giving educators opportunities to take on new challenges.
- Leading with empathy, consistency and trust.
When educators feel valued, they're more likely to stay engaged, build strong relationships and deliver high quality outcomes for children.
Leadership isn't about having all the answers.
It's about creating an environment where your team feels confident enough to keep learning.
What's one leadership practice that has had the biggest positive impact on your team? We'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments.

As Red Nose Day approaches on 27 August, it's an ideal opportunity to revisit your service's Safe Sleep and Rest Policy.
Safe sleep isn't just about following one set of guidelines, it requires understanding both compliance and best practice.
In Early Childhood Education, creating a safe sleep environment means bringing together two important frameworks:
ACECQA requirements provide the legal and regulatory framework. This includes having a Sleep and Rest Policy, completing risk assessments, maintaining compliant sleep equipment and ensuring active supervision.
Red Nose Australia provides the evidence based safe sleep recommendations that guide everyday practice.
This includes placing babies on their back to sleep, keeping their face and head uncovered, using a firm, flat mattress in a compliant cot, maintaining a smoke free environment and ensuring infants sleep in their own safe space.
Together, these frameworks help services create safer environments for children while giving educators the confidence to make informed decisions every day.
Safe sleep isn't about ticking a compliance box, it's about combining legislation with best practice to protect the children in our care.
How does your service keep safe sleep knowledge current for your team?

โค๏ธ The best recommendation we can receive comes from our students.
Our goal isn't just to help you gain a qualification, it's to make sure you leave feeling confident, capable and prepared to respond when it matters most.
