Episode 65
Podcast - Paws the Pain - How corns tell you a story

My podcast is now available for all listeners through the Free the Hounds - Talking Couch Potato podcast.

If you want to know why corns occur and what you can do to help your greyhounds , this is the podcast for YOU.

It’s also for those onwers who are on the fence about whether or not to proceed with flexor tenotomy. I would say please pause and listen to this before making any rushed decisions around surgery.

Enjoy………

Ever wonder why onwers bring their young puppies in for physio review ?

Because surely at such a young age, what could be wrong ?

Having a puppy check over by a physio is often crucial especially if you have a breed of dog that is prone to congenital
( genetic) issues.

It is at this early stage, that if something doesn’t feel right then it usually isn’t and shouldn’t be FOBBED off as just being a puppy.

This lovely owner brought her pup in because she noticed that he preferred to stand rather than sit and also that he was exceptionally QUIET ( often a red flag for me).

The check up found that there was some pain in his left hindleg and that pain may be causing the super quiet behaviour ( his temperament is still amazing). This little guy has already learnt how to manage himself and his discomfort by NOT MOVING much.

Now just in the process of checking out if it is a hip issue.

So I commend this owner for being super observant as pain signs were super subtle in this little guy.

This shy girl really came out of her shell but the end of the appointment.

A slow and gentle approach that worked at her pace really helps her to relax and start being curious, even her owner was surprised.

Could have taken this one home myself, she was such a lovely soul.

It’s not always about the credentials of being fear free with handling but more about the approach of how each dog is handled that makes the difference.
