What the? Well you may ask. Having just got the all clear from a broken heel, sustained at dance class, I came home all excited. Yeehah, back to exercise and dance class then tripped over this fence and shattered my wrist. 😤
Today has its upside as well as it's down. Firstly I'm wearing my heels again for the first time in 12 weeks and secondly I managed to do my hair and some badly applied make-up but mostly I was able to find some clothes I could do up with one hand.
So this post is mainly about my mental heath. To remind myself that even though I have gained weight and am highly restricted in what I can and can't do, there is always an upside and today this is mine. I'm dressed and fairly presentable and feel like my old self.

Weddings, gotta love them.

So,I know ,I've been very busy sewing but as I said in an earlier post, it's been about 37°C most days since Christmas and some were as high as 44°C , so not much one can do but stay inside and sew, sew ,sew !!!
This little number is a slight variation on a Gertie pattern.The Night and Day dress.
The fabric was a remnant from another dress,so it was 'pieced' together .I'm rather proud of the way the anchors lineup (yes, it took some doing),but if you look closely you'll see the sleeves are cut on the weft not the warp.🤫 🤔
What can I say?

Yep,you guessed it another Gertie fabric ,with DOUBLE BOX PLEATS!
This dress actually looks better on me than on my model. I have a long torso and so need to lower the waist of every dress I make, which makes this dress look particularly unbalanced.
I did have a moment when I realised how odd shaped I am but, hey what the heck. It's who I am, and I'm OK with being different. 🙃

I've fallen in love with them mind you it took some serious brain power to master the formula but now I have it's game on

So the past few weeks since Christmas have been scorchers here in Perth with many days above 40°C . The only thing to do is hunker down and sew.
This little number is a fabric I ordered from the US called Dazzling Gardens from Benetex. 100% cotton and perfect for these hot days.

It's that time of year again,so out came the corset and I teamed it with some cut up pantihose and a skirt I found at a second hand shop. The makeup...well what can I say? I've never been one to shy away from the dramatic.
Spook Hop here I come.

Another happy Bride. The challenge here was to find the correct shade of yellow, then to cut and use antique lace from the brides mother's wedding dress and design a 50s style gown that the bride could dance in. Mission Accompanied.

A other happy bride. So happy the way this turned out. My bride was a lovely size 6 and was a delight to work with. She had an idea of what she wanted and we just designed as we went. The gown was made fro. Silk organza and Imported Italuan lace.
Love the result.

Goodness. My son has just reminded me of this stunning creation I made for the beautiful Lara Bianca Pilcher,oh so many years ago.
There was 12mts of fabric just in the train.
