We are not your typical tour bus; owned and operated by a couple of Aussie backpackers in their 20’s, we travel at a relaxed pace with a rough itinerary and include daily activities such as hikes, waterfall and beach visits (optional extras on most other bus services). Day 5: Wooramel River Retreat.
This is one of our favourite camping spots on the whole trip, and a lot of people don’t know about it!
It’s a working station that’s been here since the 1800s. 350,000 acres of cattle and goats country, right on the edge of Shark Bay! 🐑
We camp along the Wooramel River, which only flows a few times a year after inland rain.
It’s red dirt, majestic gum trees lined throughout the station, and camps spread out under festoon lights that switch on as the sun drops.
People are in the artesian baths, a few are already around the fire, and others are just sitting back watching the sky change.
There’s horses off to the side, bits of old station gear scattered around from years of use, and once it gets dark the stars properly come out. There is no light pollution out here!! ✨
It’s simple, but it’s a good kind of simple.
Why we rate it:
⭐️ naturally heated artesian bore baths
⭐️ campfires along the riverbed
⭐️ string lights through the station at night
⭐️ clear night skies with no light pollution
⭐️ old station junkyard with pieces from generations
⭐️ enough facilities to be comfortable

Day 4 felt like a bit of a reset.
After a few big days on the road, Shark Bay slows things down.
Just a good coastal stop with a lot going on if you’re paying attention.
Highlights from the stretch:
🔥 Shell Beach: entirely made of shells, no sand.
🔥 Monkey Mia: dolphins right off the shoreline.
🔥 Turtles cruising past while you’re swimming.
🔥 Emus wandering through like they own the joint.
🔥 Night in the RAC dorms.
🔥 Next morning stop in Denham.
🔥 Swim at Little Lagoon Creek before getting back on the road!

March Tour, Day 3: Kalbarri… where the views are unreal and the flies get personal!
Up before the sun, and already sweating balls before breakfast. 💦

At some point everyone hit that moment:

Then you get to through the hike… and it’s worth it. Annoyingly worth it.

This was days 1 & 2 of our first tour back in March and somehow we’ve already:
🔥 eaten sh*t on sandboards
🔥 took some d*ck pics at the pinnacles
🔥 seen water so pink it looks fake
…and yeah, the group chat energy kicked in real quick.
In the first 48 hours the crew were sharing snacks, sunscreen, and mild trauma from the dunes! (mainly that one guy)

August 2025. What a crew.
Even with the early sauce shortage (not naming names 👀)… you guys absolutely had a ball.
Smaller group than our usual trips, but same energy!

June 2025… what a time to be alive & on the Why Not Bus! 🚌💨 We had a couple of unexpected encounters, blowies in every or***ce, but man would we do it all over again!
My favourite part about our trips, is seeing a bus full of strangers turn into this tight nit fam. It’s a truly beautiful experience to watch unfold. Chefs kiss 😘👌
