His biggest takeaway?

The developer’s role is evolving.

• reviewing outputs
• setting guardrails

The manual typing layer of development is disappearing.

But experience matters more than ever.

AI can generate code fast.
Without strong fundamentals, it can also generate technical debt just as quickly.

In the hands of experienced engineers though, the leverage is enormous.

Developers can move across codebases faster, prototype quicker, and focus more on architecture and problem solving.

AI isn’t replacing developers.

It’s amplifying the ones who know how to use it well.

Working through Dec / Jan or taking a break?

In Australia, having our summer vacation / school holidays during this time means one of a few things ...

You’re closing up shop over the Christmas and New Years period and maximising time with family and friends.

OR

You’re working furiously on your startup to get the next release or even MVP out (I know a few of you in this boat 😅)

OR

You find this as opportune downtime to work on that side project while things die around your main gig.

In Japan, while it’s the opposite season of winter, this is also one of those rare times most businesses close and many get to spend a few days with families to gather and reconnect.

Although, I’m sure I know a few people in startup land over there who are probably working through!

In Nepal, the festive season happens around Sept-Oct each year, so they tend to work through the Dec / Jan season - until recently, with many global companies in the tech sector giving staff New Year’s Day off, and the same goes for Tekkon Nepal.

Similar, the Tekkon offices in Perth and Sydney will be working through Dec / Jan with the only time off being 25th & 26th of Dec and 1st of Jan.

Especially, as we find this can be one of the busiest (and best) seasons for us.
