When we talk about fertility, the conversation often focuses on women, but male fertility plays an important role too.

With declining s***m counts and male-factor infertility becoming increasingly common, understanding male reproductive health has never been more important.

In the latest edition of Medical Forum WA, our Medical Director, Dr Sebastian Leathersich, discusses why male fertility matters, advances in treatment, and why early assessment can make a difference.

Meet our Scientific Director Dr Melanie Walls. โญ

With nearly two decades of IVF laboratory experience and a Doctorate from UWA, Mel has spent her career helping shape the future of reproductive science. Her passion for research, innovation, and improving outcomes continues to drive the work we do at Concept.

Having personally experienced IVF herself, Mel also understands the emotional side of the journey, a perspective that influences everything she does, from laboratory practice to mentoring future scientists.

Weโ€™re incredibly proud to have her leading the way at Concept ๐Ÿ’™

As Makuru season (June and July) begins on Noongar Country, we welcome a time of rain, renewal and reflection.

At Concept, we acknowledge the Whadjuk Noongar people as the Traditional Custodians of the land and pay our respects to Elders past and present.

Makuru is the Noongar season associated with fertility, transformation and new life. The arrival of maali (black swans) nesting and breeding serves as a beautiful reminder of growth, renewal and the quiet preparation that comes before new beginnings.

At Concept, Makuru season reminds us to reflect on the hope and care that often shape every journey to parenthood.

Thinking about having children someday โ€” just not right now?
Egg freezing can give you more flexibility and choice for the future. โœจ

As women age, both the quality and quantity of eggs naturally decline. By freezing your eggs earlier, you may preserve the opportunity to use them later when the time feels right for you.
Whether youโ€™re focusing on your career, not quite ready for parenthood, preparing for medical treatment, or simply wanting to keep your options open, egg freezing can be an empowering step towards future family planning.

At Concept, our team is here to guide and support you through every stage of the journey.

MicroTESE is one of the advanced male fertility treatments available at Concept.

This advanced technique can help men with certain types of male infertility find s***m when none are present in the semen.

Using a high-powered microscope, our specialists carefully look for small areas within the te**es that may still be producing s***m, giving men with non-obstructive azoos***mia (NOA) the best chance of s***m retrieval.

The procedure is performed in our onsite day hospital, with most patients returning home the same day.

If youโ€™d like to learn more about male fertility testing or treatment options, our team is here to help.

Did you know? A flu vaccination during pregnancy helps protect both you and your baby. ๐Ÿ’™

Protective antibodies are passed to your baby through the placenta, helping keep them safe during their first few months of life when they are most vulnerable and too young to be vaccinated themselves.

The flu vaccine during pregnancy is safe, effective, and recommended for women who are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.

Talk to your healthcare provider and book your flu shot today. ๐Ÿ’‰
