Today marks 100 years since the first successful injection of insulin was administered; when living with type 1 diabetes changed forever. Before Insulin was discovered by Sir Frederick G Banting, Charles H Best and JJR Macleod at the University of Toronto in 1921, people with type 1 diabetes were considered extremely lucky if they lived for more than a year.
The discovery of insulin has prolonged the life, and increased the quality of life for people living with type 1 diabetes, and for that, we think it deserves great recognition π
