Bananas .... We have 3 bunches ripening. 2x Cavendish, and one blue java. Yum! Some bunches are over a metre. Better start thinking of recipes now 🤣🤣

Wow even I can't believe our back yard transformation in such a few short years. From dead lawn in 2020 to food forest 2025. Stopped watering the lawn during summer of 2019/20. Retic was amended by me in the covid lockdown of 2020 with the grand plan in mind. Then it was soil prep including letting chickens scratch it up manure and straw, then initial plantings which have increased in time once we established the canopy. Now it's a food haven and cool shady spot on our hottest summer days. Sharing to show what can be achieved in a few short years. Here's the timeline in pictures.

Before and after ( on video) Garden pond upgrade. A little reorganising, and frog-scaping. Added land / bog plants include gotakula, dicondra, society garlic, blue moneywart (Lindernia grandiflora), Louisiana water iris, fairy lights (Scirpus Cernuus) ... Water plants include azolla-, nardoo, vallis and green milfoil. We added a frog hotel. Waiting for frogs. !!

Not all snails are bad. I discovered a new visitor yesterday, so I sent a photo on the "my pest reporter app". This species can stay and work for me 🤣 This is a snippet of the report... "you have the small pointed snail, Cochlicella barbara (Sigmurethra: Geomitridae) sometimes referred to as Prietocella barbara (snail taxonomists seem to be forever discussing the name of this one). These snails feed mainly on decaying organic material and young green shoots and are rarely considered pestiferous. " So these snails are useful in helping cycle organic matter and "cleaning up" the garden. 👌🥰 Win win
