"Do you see cats?" — yes, it is one of the questions I get asked.
The honest answer is that the majority of my clients are dogs. That is just the nature of the work. But cats are very much part of what I do, and I genuinely enjoy working with them and their owners.
An important consideration with cats is understanding that they are not small dogs. They have their own needs, their own communication style, and their own very particular way of experiencing the world. I find them personally fascinating to work with.
So if you have been wondering whether help is available for your cat — it is.
The most common issues I see are inter-cat tension, litter-tray problems and anxiety. For all of these, I prefer to come to you rather than have your cat come to me.
Cats are highly sensitive to travel and unfamiliar environments. Arriving at a clinic already stressed not only reduces my ability to accurately assess your cat — it places unnecessary stress on them in the process. And a large part of what I need to assess is the environment itself. How the space is set up, where resources are placed, how your cats are moving through the home. That simply cannot be done in a consulting room.
Coming to you means less stress for your cat, and a much better outcome for both of you.
I am currently offering consultations in the northern suburbs of Perth. Some locations do have a small travel fee — this will be confirmed when you make your enquiry.

In the behaviour field, we get to meet some very interesting characters — and Daphne is absolutely one of them.
Meet Daphne, a Xoloitzcuintli (pronounced "show-low-eets-QUEENT-lee"), also known as the Mexican Hairless, or simply the Xolo. And yes, she was rocking that pink hoodie today, which is actually not just a fashion statement. More on that in a moment.
The Xolo is one of the oldest and rarest dog breeds in the world, with a history stretching back over 3,000 years. The Aztecs believed these dogs were created by the god Xolotl , the god of lightning and death, to guide the souls of the deceased safely through the underworld. They were considered sacred. Ceramic and clay figures of Xolos have been found in ancient burial sites throughout Mexico, and they were often buried alongside their owners for exactly that reason.
Fast forward to today, and the Xolo is still a relatively rare breed, but what makes them genuinely fascinating from a behavioural perspective is how primitive they are. Unlike many modern breeds that have been selectively shaped over generations for specific tasks or temperaments, the Xolo has changed very little. They are highly alert, intensely sensitive, and very in tune with their environment and the people around them. They tend to bond deeply with one person or family, can be quite reserved with strangers, and are known to be emotionally perceptive in a way that many more domesticated breeds simply are not.
That sensitivity, while one of their most endearing qualities, is also the thing that can make them more prone to anxiety, which is exactly why understanding the individual dog matters so much more than following a generic training plan.
As for the hoodie, Xolos have little to no coat, which means they feel the cold acutely. That pink number is not just cute, it is genuinely necessary. And Daphne wore it with complete dignity.
What a dog. What a history. What a visit.

Meet Syrus. 🖤

We had a great session this week in our dedicated training space in Wangara, and honestly — what a dog. If he looks a little familiar, you're not wrong. Syrus is a Dobermann, and he's giving some serious Bernard vibes.

Syrus has a few things he's working through at the moment, but nothing that time, consistency, and the right support won't address. He's a smart, gorgeous dog with owners who are clearly dedicated and genuinely invested in doing the right thing by him.

That combination — a motivated dog and committed owners — is really all you need to make progress.

Really lovely to meet you all 🐾

"Don't worry, my dog is friendly!"
If you have a reactive dog, you know exactly what it feels like to hear those words coming toward you from across the park.
Your stomach drops. You start scanning for an exit. You're already calculating whether you can get off the path in time.
Here's the thing — the other dog being friendly doesn't actually help your dog. In fact, it can make things significantly worse.
On-lead greetings restrict your dog's ability to move naturally. Dogs communicate a huge amount through body language — the arc of their approach, the ability to turn away, to create distance. When they're on a lead, all of that is taken away.
Head-on approaches are confrontational in dog language. Two dogs walking straight at each other, face to face, is not a neutral greeting. It is a challenge.
And when a dog cannot flee — when flight is blocked by a lead, a fence, or a well-meaning stranger holding their dog right in front of yours — fight becomes the only option left.
Your dog does not have to say hello to every dog they meet. That is not a failure. That is you advocating for them.
You are allowed to say no. You are allowed to cross the road, change direction, or simply ask people to keep their dog away.
Your dog is counting on you to do exactly that.

Comments like this one make the work feel worthwhile. 🖤
Storm came in on Saturday as part of his behaviour modification programme — and according to his mum Natasha, it was the happiest she has ever seen him during training.
That is the shift we are working toward. Not just compliance, but a dog who actually feels okay in the environment that used to worry him.
Storm still has a little way to go. But this is what progress looks like — and it is built on an owner who shows up, does the exercises, and trusts the process.
Well done Storm. Well done Natasha. 🐾

Just a Saturday morning at Pet Logic Perth. 🐾
Meet Storm, Dusty, Murphy and Frankie — four dogs who came in this past Saturday, each working through their own individual behaviour modification programme.
Behaviour modification can look a lot like regular training from the outside. But the purpose is different. We're not just teaching skills — we're working to change the way the dog feels about something, or teaching them to do something they're not yet mentally able to do, like impulse control.
And that takes time, consistency, and owners who are genuinely committed to the process.
These four have exactly that. Their owners have been putting in the work every single day, and it shows. Hats off to all of them.
Coming soon: Group classes for current Pet Logic clients are on the way. These will be a safe, structured environment to practise your skills alongside other dogs — exclusively for existing clients. More details coming very soon. 👀

You may have seen this cartoon guy popping up in our posts.
Meet the real Bernard. 🖤
Bernard is my Dobermann — and honestly, he's one of the reasons I do what I do.
He's had his own issues over the years. He hasn't always been an easy dog. And working through that with him — understanding what was going on for him, figuring out what he actually needed — is a big part of what shaped how I approach behaviour work today.
Because when it's your own dog, it's different. It's personal. You feel every setback. You celebrate every small win. And you love them to pieces regardless.
That's the experience most of you are living right now with your dogs. And I get it — genuinely.
Bernard has been by my side through all of it. He's not perfect, and that's okay. Neither are any of our dogs. That's kind of the whole point.
(Stay tuned — coming soon you'll meet Juno, my other Dobermann, who actually helps me work with clients. She's something else. 🖤🖤)

This review made my day. 🙏
Choco came in highly anxious, reactive to other dogs, and with very little impulse control. Walks were a real challenge.
What her mum and dad discovered — and what I love that they put into words — is that the process matters. The foundations matter. It's not about quick fixes. It's about building something that actually lasts.
Choco is significantly calmer, more focused, and far more responsive on the lead now. And her family trusted the process to get there.

Meet Tess. 🖤
We had a session today in our dedicated training space in Wangara Perth, and this girl absolutely nailed it.
We were working on impulse control — one of the foundations of everything we do here. The whole idea is simple but powerful: we want dogs to learn to think rather than just reacting to everything. Not to suppress, but to pause, process, and make a choice.
Tess got it. Even when I tried to distract her, she held her focus on her mum. That's a dog who is genuinely starting to think.
She's working through her foundations right now, and she'll be moving up into classes very soon. We can't wait to see what she does next.
Well done Tess. Well done mum. 🐾

Jumping on a plane to Sydney today for three days of learning from two of the best in the business.
Michael Shikashio CDBC — one of the world's leading experts in dog aggression. Dr Moira Hechenleitner DVM, CSAT — a specialist in separation anxiety who has helped thousands of dogs and their families.
Three days. Aggression. Separation anxiety. The two things I work with most.
I'm genuinely excited about this one. I always come back from events like this with new perspectives, new tools, and a renewed energy for the work. And everything I learn, I bring back to my clients here in Perth.
Watch this space — I'll be sharing some of what I pick up along the way.
