Help us understand the transition from primary to secondary school for young people with language and/or reading challenges!

We want to talk to young people with language and/or reading challenges in Years 6-12, their caregivers, and educators/professionals in some quick interviews (approx. 30mins for young people, 45 mins for adults).

The interviews will focus on secondary school transition experiences, social and emotional wellbeing, and what might have helped or made things harder. We are also open to receiving written or pre-recorded responses!

Exciting news from Multilingual Australia!

In 2026, we’re taking an important step forward where we’ll be developing our Social Media Policy to guide how we connect, engage and grow with our diverse communities online.

But we don’t want to do this alone..

As an organisation committed to empowering culturally and linguistically diverse communities across Australia, your voice matters. We would love our members, partners and the broader multilingual community to help shape the kind of content we create and share.

What would you like to see more of from us?• Community stories?• Multilingual resources?• Events and opportunities?• Advocacy updates?• Youth and leadership highlights?

Your feedback will help us build a stronger, more inclusive and engaging digital presence.

Thank you to all our supporters, partners and members who continue to walk alongside us. We look forward to sustainable growth, meaningful engagement and strengthening connections with you in 2026 and beyond.

Let’s shape this together. 💬🌏

On Sunday, a devastating terror attack struck at the heart of our community during a Hanukkah celebration at Bondi Beach in Sydney, resulting in the loss of 16 innocent lives and injuring many more. This was a targeted, antisemitic terrorist act against Jewish Australians gathered for the first night of Hanukkah.

This profound tragedy touches us all. Among those we’ve lost are people spanning generations, children, elders, community volunteers, and leaders whose warmth, service, and spirit enriched the lives of many.

At Multilingual Australia, we extend our deepest condolences to the families, friends, and loved ones of the victims. We mourn with our nation’s Jewish community and with all who have been traumatised by this senseless act of hate.

We stand united against violence, hatred, and discrimination. NO ONE should live in fear because of their faith, identity, or heritage.

In moments like this, our values matter most:

🧡 Solidarity: we stand with our Jewish colleagues, family members, and friends, affirming that their wellbeing and dignity are paramount.

🧡 Support: we encourage everyone in our network to offer compassion, listen without judgment, and be present for those who are grieving.

🧡 Unity in Diversity: our strength as a nation lies in our multicultural fabric. Hate and extremism threaten not just one community, but the safety and harmony of all.

To our community across Australia and beyond: let us reaffirm our commitment to respect, inclusion, and human dignity. Let us refuse to let fear and hatred define us; instead, let love, empathy, and understanding guide us.

In these dark times, we honour the memory of the lost and the courage of survivors and first responders.

May we continue to work together for a future where everyone can live and celebrate their culture and faith in safety and peace.

We would like to acknowledge our outgoing Chair, Vivien Hegedus, for her contribution to the organisation during her tenure, which was only cut short due to relocation.

Vivien was an integral part of the transition MA went through, as our previous Chair, Henrietta Podgorska, took on the role of Head of Operations.

We wish Vivien the very best in her new adventures in the Northern Hemisphere!
